It is touristy in the summer, especially on holiday weekends. Check the schedule of events in Erie to catch Discover Presque Isle, usually at the end of July. There are also free concerts on Beach 1 on Wednesday nights all summer!
We recommend the Lighthouse Beach and Beach 8 area if you want a less crowded experience. Beach 11 is the "boaters beach" and has the best sand (and biggest crowds) all summer.

I love this Mediterranean spot downtown. Great atmosphere and decor, delicious appetizers and entrees. Try the risotto! Perfect for a drink and app at the cozy bar. In warmer weather they open up the dining room for inside/outside dining.

It’s called Sneaky Pete’s for the original owner... the sneaky MAY be referring to its unassuming location. It MAY be somewhere you might go for a romantic rendezvous but not want to be seen. It has changed hands and the menu, cocktails, and wine list are exceptional in a cozy and casual atmosphere. The fire is going and the owner’s daughter breaks into song from time to time. If you don’t mind a 20 min drive west, this is a truly local spot, a hidden gem.

Crazy delicious hot dogs. We recently had Don’t Hassle the Hoff, a cheddar wurst on a pretzel bun with sauerkraut. So many other goodies. It’s right up the street on 97!

This is a brand-new bar at the Marriott, right on the water. Perfect to watch the sunset while having a drink on the patio. It is somewhat better suited for sunset viewing as it is on the west side of the convention center.
The Bayfront Grill at the Sheraton is also great, but once the sun sets behind the convention center you can't watch the entire sunset. The Marriott only offers "bar food", while the Bayfront Grill has a nationally-recognized chef and a full dinner menu.
