Mitoki is an absolute gem of a rustic Japanese tapas bar eatery that can be found tucked alongside the Story Bridge in Kangaroo Point and whose house specialty is modern Japanese tapas. Dining is on a fairy and paper lantern lit open sided terrace (with roll down blinds for protection from the elements) at black clothed tables adorned with miniature flower pots and ordering is done electronically via i-pad menus. The tapas menu is an eclectic and extensive mix of Japanese meets Western delicacies: think salmon cream croquettes, sweet chilli chicken karaage, natto gyoza, teriyaki chiecken caesar salad, salmon or beef carpaccio and and the deliciousness continues to the rest of the menu, which includes sushi, sashimi, rice and noodle dishes, mains of teriyaki or tempura and good value lunch time bento boxes. Chef specials, some with a Western twist, are also worth a look and these include fresh ginger sashimi, beef carpaccio, or sake sake bucket with grilled tuna Caesar salad. Mitoki is fully licenced (with BYO wine allowed) with a range of sake and shochu, Japanese and Oz beers, wine and Japanese cocktails such as Umeshi Martini (made on Japanese plum wine). Desserts are also a mix of east and west from the traditional Mitoki green tea mousse basket or black sesame ice-cream to parfaits, tiramisu and brownies. Need to know: come for lunch and take advantage of the great lunchtime specials such as bento boxes, tapas lunch sets, rice bowls and udon noodle sets all for $20 or under.

The Prawnster is the most unique dining experience to be had in Brisbane - a floating fresh seafood restaurant onboard two vintage prawn trawlers docked side by side in Kangaroo Point. Permanently berthed at Dockside, The Prawnster and The Princess Prawnster are the real deal, having worked the Queensland waters since being built at Cabbage Tree Creek in the 1970s. Now, thanks to the owner Martin and his wife, they have a new life moored at the stunning inner city location, where it offers a rustic dine-in experience for seafood lovers. Step aboard and take a seat at one of the boat's carved wooden benches or al fresco on the covered pontoon (The Prawnster Pontoon) to enjoy some of the best fresh seafood in the city or pick some prawns up to take home. The concise dine-in menu is strictly seafood and includes prawns of various sizes and varieties, oysters, Moreton Bay Bugs, salmon and mud crabs (in season). If you want bread rolls or salads as a side, you are welcome to bring your own. Choices start from a medium prawn platter with 800g of medium/king Queensland prawns for $25 or a platter of 800g large local seasonal King prawns for $35. A generous mixed platter for $65 includes 3 medium Moreton Bay bugs, 2 jumbo prawns plus a 300g serve each of king and mixed medium prawns. A large tiered platter (perfect for 2) is the ultimate choice and includes 6 natural oysters, 200g Tasmanian salmon sashimi, 2 Moreton Bay bugs, 300g large king prawns and 300g of mixed medium prawns (for $80)*. All platters come with fresh lemon and dipping sauces. Due to the high popularity of this unique dining experience it is highly recommended that you book a seat on The Prawnster, The Princess Prawnster or the Prawnster Pontoon to avoid disappointment. Note that with passing ferries and watercraft, the boats can be subjected to some rocking at times. Need to know - The Prawnster is waiting on a liquor licence and until it is approved, diners can BYO wine or beer, with plastic glasses provided and corkage at $6 a bottle. There is a small selection of soft drinks and sparkling water available for purchase. Good to know - There is limited street parking available at Dockside as well as paid security parking. The wharf can also be reached via the free City Hopper from Kangaroo Point, New Farm, North Quay and South Bank.
