At Nathon’s famous food market (Toe Roong) locals wander every single night to pick their favs and reserve the best plastic chairs to watch the life go by. There might roam a bunch of backpackers as well, but this is as local as you can get in Koh Samui. You will be spoiled for choices, as almost every Thai street food delicacy is available. Tastes are authentic and prices cheap.

"best pad Thai I have had in Thailand"... I don't know where that person has been eating or if we got here on an off day but it was actually the (least) best pad Thai I've had in Thailand and I've had it at least every other day for the past 2 weeks. Pad Thai is mostly noodles, and those are almost always the same only here they were much more sticky (maybe more gooey) than I've had elsewhere... not in a good way. The sauce wasn't very flavorful (maybe this is because it seemed pretty touristy and most tourists can't handle spice) the plus is that they give you a spice rack on the table to add to it though it didn't help very much unfortunately. It also made us feel lethargic after eating

Good food, ok service, great view. Would not suggest this place is romantic by any means it’s not secluded but a nice view point on the road near the port and pier.

Lucky's is without a doubt not only the warmest welcome but the food here is excellent... and there's free Wi-Fi. Some of the dishes I recommend are the Chicken Panang which was just on the right side of spicy, the BBQ Beef yellow Curry with boiled rice was very very nice and hands down my favourite was the salted whole White Snapper with egg fried rice which was so good I had it twice! Lucky's also have a range of European dishes as well if you need a break from the Thai food... The Pizzas here are freshly made (not bought-in bases) and are excellent... the fish and chips is pretty mean too!

Lucky's is without a doubt not only the warmest welcome but the food here is excellent... and there's free Wi-Fi. This is a restaurant by the Hin Lad Waterfalls. Seems pretty local and his food is very original, tasty and spicy but you can ask them to temper the amount of chilli they use. The Som Tum or papaya salad was great and so was the fried squid with basil. Beers were nice and cold too

Some of Samui’s best beaches can be found along this coast, though you’re unlikely to find a vendor, so bring some drinks and snacks in the backpack. The water is calm and shallow, and there are no rowdy crowds or jetskis. This stretch of Samui is also the best spot to enjoy the setting sun over the beautiful and mysterious Five Islands. Known locally as "Ko Si Ko Haa", meaning "Four Islands-Five Islands" – as one of the islands is hidden behind another – the islands are home to swifts, and their famous nests are the main ingredient in bird’s nest soup.

Lipa Noi is definitively the most heavenly : sand is really white and thin, sea is transparent, a lot of coconut trees line this beach. We recommend this place for solo or couples who want to relax in an amazing landscape.

Nathon has a myriad of little curiosity- type shops both on the main drag though the town and in the little streets between the main road and the beach road. The old wooden Chinese style buildings sell all sorts of things and often at rock bottom prices. There are clothes shops that sell the same sort of goods you will find in Chaweng, but at a fraction of the price. There are gift shops, handicraft shops, tailors, a shoe maker’s shop, souvenir shops, art galleries, kitchen ware shops, a couple of supermarkets, one with an excellent range of imported goods and there are lots of cheap restaurants selling both local and western dishes.
