We are Ultra Foodies and this guy can really cook!! The service is excellent and the price very reasonable. It IS just outside of town (a 12min. walk) but a taxi can be provided. Much better than the usual stuff in town....

Closer to home is a lovely restaurant just at the end of the street, under the old fish market looking over a lovely canal. It's chef is excellent and service is impeccable - it looks chique but they are very warm and friendly with delicious food & wine

One of the best kept secrets of the Goudenaars is this bright and lovely place just on the ring of Gouda... not busy & touristy like the center of town, this is sweet and quiet along the water. A great place for morning coffee, doing some work or feeding the ducks in the setting sun of the day.

A great place for morning coffee, doing some work or feeding the ducks in the setting sun of the day.

The whole town center (3 min. walk away) has a bustling little night life scene... of course it's no Amsterdam but it's sweet and cozy with lots of summer terraces that also are open in winter with fireplaces etc. Do go early as they don't stay open until deep in the night! Gouda Studios is a great little place for live music and often salsa dancing.

Cute little park with a gazebo and a beautiful old windmill... on sundays in summer there are live music performances- fabulous! Behind us is a great teeny harbour with old Dutch boats used as houses as well as another working windmill producing flour! Jogging along the dyke early in the morning is peaceful and beautiful, or use our bikes to take a ride through the country side to see other old towns, fresh fruits, cheese and eggs from the farm on sale along the roadside... sheep included for free!

This supermarket is the local chain and has everything one could want, we also have little turkish markets and fresh green grocers - I recommend the thursday or sat. market for nice food, local specialities and just a nice scene... do ask me as some of the stall are better quality than others...!
