The Botanic Gardens are a must-visit when in Roseau. Nestled below the verdant Morne Bruce hill, and located about 50 meters from the Roseau River, is the 40-acre Botanic Gardens of Dominica. This area of undulating land is the largest tract of greenspace in the city of Roseau. With an elevation of about 66 ft (20 meters) above sea level, the Botanic Gardens receives approximately 85 inches (218 cm) of rainfall annually, with favorable conditions for the growing of a wide variety of tropical plants. The Gardens was once considered one of the most beautiful gardens in the West Indies. Travellers marvelled at its attractive layout, the wrought iron work of its fountain and gates, its immaculate rolling lawns, its flower gardens, and its profusion of exotic fruits, commercial and ornamental plants, and the spectacular trees from around the tropical world. The Gardens has been host to cricket matches, cultural galas and family outings. Today it is also used for multiple entertainment events, exercise activities and remains a favourite for wedding photos and other social events.

Sightseeing

Located in the caiptal cty of Roseau, this building was once the main Post Office on the island. It is now a museum and a tourist information centre. Located directly opposite the cruise shop berth on Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard, visitors can step off and go directly into the museum for a tour and information on the Nature Islae

One of the green spaces in the capital of Roseau, Peebles Park is located in a historical section of the city. The park is opposite the Cenotaph, next door to Fort young and Garraway Hotels. The park is in the vicinity of the public library, the office and residence of the President of the Commonwealth of Dominica and the House of Parliament.
