This is the best sushi I know of in the East Bay. The sushi chefs are artists. It gets packed so get there early, wait in the line, or eat at the bar. They don't take reservations.

Arts & Culture

This is the best museum, hands down that I've ever been to. It's very hands on, full of interesting information about Oakland and California. Kids to young adults to elderly people love this museum. There are almost always special exhibits too.

Entertainment & Activities

In the summer, the pool is open to the public for long hours each day. There is a child-friendly section, a place for lap swimming, and a jacuzzi. It's quite the country club experience for $7 a person. (As long as there's not a birthday party going on.)

This theater rocks. You can order dinner and beer, and they'll deliver it to you in the movie. There are sofas and dinner tables as the seating. Tickets are cheaper than the regular movies.

The FJ on MacArther is small and doesn't sell wine or beer but there is always parking and it's almost never crowded. It also has a lot of organic and high quality foods.

The FJs on Fruitvale has most groceries, and beer and wine that you'll need. (If you need junk food you can stop by CVS afterwards.) It can get super-busy on weekend mornings.
