Chichen Itza is the more famous Pyramid, but we prefer to go to Uxmal, number one we believe it is more beautiful, you can walk up on a couple of the Pyramids and see forever (breathtaking). Chichen Itza is further away and more commercialized, it is much busier as it is closer for the Cancun tourists .

Cuzama 3 Cenotes: Take a horse drawn cart to 3 different Cenotes for a ride that will impress, not to mention the beautiful Cenotes that await you; They are magical.
A Cenote is a natural wonder. These are fresh water rivers that run underground, crystal clear, turquoise in colour. The temperature varies, but I would say around 25 Celsius. The sun shines down through the many holes/hole illuminating the area in which you can swim. There are four different kinds of Cenotes, those that are completely underground, those that are semi-underground, those that are at land level like a lake or pond or those that are like going in a well. We have been to a few and love them all.

Progreso, is a 45 minute drive from Centro Merida, it's on the Gulf of Mexico. The water isn't as nice as the Caribbean but there are some nice restaurants and lots of sun for getting that holiday tan.

This restaurant has a huge beautiful tree in the courtyard. We just love the atmosphere.
There are many wonderful restaurants in Merida to choose from, but this was my first love.

Mr. Pampas is a Brazilian Restaurant, we just love this place. It has a wonderful buffet for salads and more. There is a wheel on the table that you turn to YES when you want the amazing meat delivered to your table, the waiters will flock to your table with meat hot off the rotisserie, they slice off the exact amount you would like. Getting full? turn the wheel to NO, take a rest. When you are ready to start again change to YES...one of the best restaurants in Merida. Wear a sweater, it can be kept a little too cool for my liking. Also can be a little loud, but hey, it's Mexico.

This is a free Zoo, a must see...
This Zoo is out much further. If you enjoy walking, it's not strenuous at all and it's a nice place to visit.

Check it out, even our grandchildren were impressed.
Also, Peon Contreras has cafe/ restaurant on the south side of the building. Many tables are set up outside for you to sit and enjoy the evening breeze under a huge tree while sipping on a pina colada, enjoying a beer or a cappuccino. We have met many a good friends at this place.

Check it out, even our grandchildren were impressed.
Also, Peon Contreras has cafe/ restaurant on the south side of the building. Many tables are set up outside for you to sit and enjoy the evening breeze under a huge tree while sipping on a pina colada, enjoying a beer or a cappuccino. We have met many a good friends at this place.

They play lots of loud music, sell food and drinks.
If you are a smoker, leave them in the car or you will be asked to throw them and a lighter if you brought one in a pile, when game is over you can go through the pile looking for what you left behind if you want, easier to leave in the car.

If you are a smoker, leave them in the car or you will be asked to throw them and a lighter if you brought one in a pile, when game is over you can go through the pile looking for what you left behind if you want, easier to leave in the car.

This is my Veterinarian in Merida. One of the Doctors speaks English, they are all very helpful and nice. Also provided is grooming for your pet (Excellent job, great price)
I have also met a young couple that run a kennel, they are amazing. The wife is studying to be a veterinarian (win-win) they also speak English. We board Molly there from time to time.

At Christmas this place is spectacular, right up until about the 10th of January when they take down the tree and lights.
