The sandbar is overlain by sand dunes with an estuary to the east side and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The sand dunes and estuary, which consists of sand flats and saltmarsh provide thriving habitats for a rich array of flora and fauna. The exposed beach together with reef breaks create ideal surfing conditions.”
