Lighthouse
“Located at the northernmost point of Nantucket right where Nantucket Sound meets the Atlantic, Great Point Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse originally built in 1784 and still in operation today. Exploring Great Point and the Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge in a car is one of the most exhilarating off-road adventures on island. To get to the lighthouse, you will need to be prepared for a long drive over sand. Be sure to have four-wheel drive and deflate the tires on your car to at most 15 PSI. To make the journey, you need an oversand vehicle permit. Permits must be pre-ordered and prepaid before you can enter the refuge and are available for pickup at The Wauwinet Gatehouse.”
