The hills surrounding the valley rise to 217 metres and offer views of the South Downs, The Weald, and – on a clear day – the Isle of Wight. It is the site of ramparts, all that remain of an Iron Age hillfort, and a pub. It is a popular local beauty spot for the Brighton and Hove area, being an easy…

Britain's largest dry valley, the Devil's Dyke is a stunning place to visit in any weather. There are some great walks around it, and views over Brighton, the South Downs and north over The Weald. You can catch a 77 bus on the other side of Seven Dials, on Dyke Road.

Restaurant
“Chef Michael Bremner’s beach-front brasserie is named after the dark cloud of starlings (a ‘murmuration’) that swirls over the adjacent West Pier at sunset, best viewed from the restaurant’s lovely terrace, which spills out on to the newly developed promenade next to the futuristic i360 tower and viewing pod. The open kitchen offers bold combinations. So lobster croquettes come with a gutsy saffron and chorizo mayonnaise, while a punchy plate of harissa baked marrow is lifted by red pepper tabbouleh and coconut yoghurt dressing. Good oysters; an excellent breakfast menu; and a bargain set lunch (three courses for £20); plus excellent service. Don't have to book although that may have changed so check first.”
