Chattanooga is known for this pedestrian walking bridge. It connects the city's River Front area to the North Shore area. Both offer lots to do, including plenty of tourist type shops and activities.
Walnut Street Bridge, a/k/a The Walking Bridge is delightful. Such a scenic walk! Beautiful view of downtown, the river, and the beautiful mountains all around. Coolidge Park is right there along the river. So many delightful shops and unique restaurants on both sides of the bridge to explore.
Walk across the river and enjoy the breeze! It's one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world and it's so pretty!
Stop into one of the ice cream parlors on either side of the bridge and take a stroll. On the north shore side (Frazier Avenue), you have Clumpies Ice Cream Co, and on the south side, you have Ice Cream Show. Our vote is Ice Cream Show. If you like thin mints, get the Grasshopper, and don’t look…

“If you're only in Chattanooga for a short time, the aquarium is worth your time. Consistently voted one of the best aquariums in the US, your day pass gets you into both buildings (one for freshwater and one for saltwater). We like to do one in the morning, then eat lunch downtown, and do the other afterwards. Your ticket here gives you a discount to other local attractions and vice versa. ”

“St. John's is a dual restaurant. T2 restaurants which share a chef and kitchen. On one side is Chattanooga's premier restaurant: St. John's Restaurant. Men must wear a sport's coat to enter, valet parking offered. Literally next door is St. John's The Meeting Place. More casual, but much of the same menu with a good bar. We have spent several anniversary dinners as The Meeting Place because it has great food, much of it locally sourced, but doesn't break the bank. This is the place that you should go if you want to spend 2+ hours eating a nice slow meal. ”
