If you enjoy unspoiled nature, spectacular scenery, birds, fynbos, this trip is a must. In spring and early summer, the fynbos is in flower, and spotting Cape sugarbirds or Orange breasted sunbirds is easy. Pack a picnic and take one of the best day trips South Africa has to offer – a trip to The Hel in the Gamkaskloof Nature Reserve. Although this trip is ideally suited to an SUV as the rocky sections and water pools need a high road clearance and might be difficult for cars, I have seen brave tourists attempting that gravel road in a VW Polo.
