At this seaside village two hours from Paris, I like to walk the Promenade des Planches, a boardwalk flanked by colorful houses and the ocean. Each fall, after the annual Festival du Cinéma Américain, cabanas along the Planches are named for celebrities who take part, like Morgan Freeman and Cate Blanchett. It is France’s Hollywood Walk of Fame! Famous Parisians like Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent always summered in Deauville. They opened some of their earliest boutiques here.

Deauville is a famous beautiful seaside resort, great architecture, smart shops and chic restaurants. Golf is nearby and it has the American Film Festival in September and has many attractions.

Deauville is a beautiful sea side town with a great market. it is my favourite with great bistros! Definitely a must visit on market day. A lovely day at the beach can be spent here on a hot day hire an umbrella and chairs it is wonderful .
