Aldwych station

There are 49 abandoned or disused tube stations in London. Aldwych, just around the corner from Temple tube, is the easiest one to visit, since you can book a Hidden London tour at the Transit Museum where I take you down to see it. This station wasn’t closed till 1994, so it was still working within living memory of many people. I used to use it myself back in the early ’90s. When I lead tours here, I’ve known people to come back twice because first time round they were so busy taking photos of things like the Leslie Green-designed oxblood tiles that they missed half the tour. Put your phone in your pocket now and then and just immerse yourself.
