This is an arboretum curated by Harvard University, comprising hundreds of acres of trees collected from all over the world for over a century by the university's botanists. The walking trails meander through the naturalistic landscape, designed by Frederick Law Olmstead: the country's first landscape architect, who also designed New York's Central Park and a chain of other parks that forms Boston's Emerald Necklace. It's a marvelous place to get your dose of nature, and only about a 10 minute walk from where you're staying. Highly, highly recommended, particularly my favorite trail, the Conifer Path, which will make you feel like you're in the Redwood forests of the US Pacific Northwest. Also, in the summer, check out the bonsai collection, a remarkable collection of trees, some of which have been cultivated over hundreds of years.
