Find out how a Monorail system designed for use in the desert and inspired by pack camels ended up running between Listowel and Ballybunion from 1888-1924. See black and white footage from that era and take a trip on the train. Interesting and fun, and run by knowledgeable volunteers.

Designed by Frenchman Charles Lartigue, this unique survivor of Victorian railway engineering once ran between Listowel and Ballybunion along the coast.

Take a trip back in time on the full sized replica diesel engine and two 3rd class carriages where balance is essential .The railway is run on one third of a mile of elevated rail.

“Located 44Kms from our front door. The Robert Trent Jones designed Links is probably one of his finer designs. Ballybunion boasts 2 Championship Course - The New & The Old. Both varying in difficulty while meandering along the coastline. Definitely a must play while in the area for all avid golfers.”
