Coast paths: our personal favourites are... Rinsey to Porthleven – A challenging but stunning walk from Rinsey car park. 1.5 hours each way or you can walk along the back road from Porthleven on the way back to make it a bit easier! St Ives to Zennor. A more challenging walk with breath-taking views and not many people! The Tinners Arms in Zennor is awesome. Walking from Hayle to Godrevy, to see the lighthouse, the seals and of course Godrevy cafe. Sennen to Lands End. Another stunning section of coast path not far from St Ives. Porthcurno — north or south. Stunning coastline and cool little villages when you come across them. Perranuthnoe to Marazion - lovely views of St Michael's Mount and great cafes for fuel stops! …Or Perranuthnoe to Prussia – for a longer walk (with no cafes!) but a quieter beach at the end. Trencrom Hill Discover the old Saints Way and take a walk up Trencrom Hill. You can see coast to coast on most days. If not too windy take a picnic and sit back and enjoy. Other walks and activities: Little Crofty circulars: Easy route - 45 mins - Head out and down the track turning left at the bottom. Follow the track through the ponds bearing left all the way until you reach a sign for Lantern Cottage, at which point head straight up the hill and you will return to Little Crofty. Slightly longer – 70 mins approx. - Through Trescowe village past Halamanning Engine House (please note there are no facilities at Trescowe). Head up the track, turn right where the track meets the minor road, keep going (ignoring the turn to the left where it is very wet) until you reach three-way ‘cross-roads’. Go straight over up the hill. Keep an eye to the left for the beautiful old engine house in the woods. Head up the hill, pass the barns to your right, keep to the right of the field, turn right down through Trescowe then take Water Lane to your right (by the old red phone box) to bring you back to the track to Little Crofty. (Water Lane can get overgrown and very wet, hence the name! If it is too bad, just carry on up the road, turn right to Millpool and get back on the track that way). For a longer walk (2/3 hours) which takes in beautiful Godolphin Hill – Head down the track, turn left to the ponds, then right at the three-way fork, up the hill, past the engine house, past the barns on your right, through the field, then turn left on the road until you get to Rocky Lane on your right. Go up Rocky Lane onto Godolphin Hill. You can just explore the hill or drop down to the estate, where there are nice gardens and Godolphin House. Come back along the road and either go the way you came through the field and past the barns or drop down through Trescowe village. St Erth River UPDATE 2020: THIS WALK HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR SOME TIME DUE TO COLLAPSING RIVERBANK AND IS UNAVAILABLE FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. For a peaceful walk that isn't near the coast you can head straight out of the door from Croft Gothal down to the village of Relubbus, (ask us for directions through the woods) cross the road, then join the St Erth River and just follow its quiet meanderings. There is a small children’s park on the left just before you reach St Erth village and if you go up the steep hill in St Erth the Star Inn is at the top for welcome refreshment! You can walk all the way over to the North coast if you are feeling energetic…

The South West Coastal path and a good OS map are really valuable if you wish to walk whilst staying with us. Apps and local groups such as iWalk Cornwall are also really helpful at finding shorter circular walks in the area that you are staying which are shown by gradient and challenge of the route so you are able to select those most suited to your ability and those walking with you on your journey.
