Best to visit the state park at low tide. The Fort can be visited at all tides. Good stripper fishing at the Fort

On a sunny summer day, there isn't a more beautiful Maine beach. When the tide is low you can walk out to an island to explore. Worth the drive, but watch out for the seagulls that seem to be overly confident about trying to steal lunch from bags when people go walking...

“I LOVE having breakfast here. If you are up to something else in Bath (yoga, beaches, Maritime museum) you should start at Mae's . I almost always get the same thing, but one day a friend meeting me was late and I had a chance to read the entire menu and I was pretty amazed. In their own words: We offer an amazing array of baked goods, GLUTEN FREE AND PALEO treats and fresh baked Cinnamon Swirl Bread! Our menu can easily be modified to accommodate gluten free, vegetarian and Paleo diets! They have been written up a lot in the press, most notably for their blueberry pie in Down East Magazine. “A short drive from Boothbay Harbor. Reid State Park is a public recreation area overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on Georgetown Island, Sagadahoc County, Maine. The 770-acre park is noted for its sandy beaches and sand dunes—both rare in the state of Maine—plus its rocky tidepools, salt marshes, and tidal lagoon. Ocean swimming is offered at Mile Beach and Half Mile Beach, while warmer waters are found at a tidal inlet, The Lagoon, where the quieter waters tend to be 10 to 15 degrees warmer. The park also has picnicking areas, fishing, and hiking trails.”

“Nice place for a simple breakfast with a wonderful deck with a view. Very close to The Big House and The Nest in Bath. (Take a left out of the driveway, then a left at the first major intersection. Winnegance store will be about 500 meters down the road on your right.)”
