The Café at the Plaza is a bustling vintage café that locals consider a Milwaukee treasure. With its traditional tile work, etched glass doors and original floors, the Café is a nod to a simpler time. The Courtyard is nestled in the center of our red brick building. Straight out of the pages of a…

Good brunch/breakfast place. Usually easy to find a seat on the patio, which is like stepping back in time, and you almost forget you're near the heart of downtown. The cafe counter is good and classic/old-fashioned diner (you'll want to order some apple pie). The food is good, and the coffee is…

East Town Restaurant. A good breakfast/lunch spot is Plaza Cafe. 7am-2pm. In a well-kept, historic Milwaukee hotel. I recommend sitting at the large counter where you can watch the cooks. But the “hallway turned restaurant” tables just seems to work. A bit overpriced and slow when busy but the…

There is a sweet diner inside this old hotel. We especially like the breakfasts. Gruff waitresses that call you "honey" will bring you big plates of eggs and pancakes.

Restaurant
“Spanish and Portuguese inspired cuisine is an interesting restaurant with unique dishes that all taste great. The food is fresh and local....so fresh that at one meal my salad ingredients had just arrived through the delivery door from the farmer! They also have a chef's table to watch the chef's work their magic and a nice happy hour T-F 4-6.”

Book Store
“If books are your thing, this is possibly the best independent book store in the state. It specializes in small press offerings and poetry. Plan to spend a lot of time browsing for works you can not find elsewhere.”

Bar
“This quiet and quaint neighborhood restaurant and bar may be my go to place for a nice meal and be able to have a conversation with friends. It has a nice varied menu from soup and salad to a steak or seafood dinner. My favorite is the lobster roll. It is family owned and operated and waitstaff is knowledgeable and fun.”
