Rome Alternative to Pompeii This is a great alternative to visiting Pompeii - all the historic buildings and mosaics without the bodies. For many, getting to Pompeii while visiting Rome takes almost a full day because of the travel. In Ostia Antica you can view a Roman town, including an arena and bath house with amazing mosaic floors.
