Packed away near the city of Brownsville is a 527 acre preserve for local and unique plant and animal species. Check visit their website (sabalpalmsanctuary.org) and watch the birds through a live bird cam.

The furthest point south in the United States and a sabal palm sanctuary. The vegetation is very different from anywhere else in South Texas.

This is some of the only old growth palms that we have in the area. It is what the Spanish explorers first saw and why they called the area Resaca de las Palmas.
