Whiteside Mountain is well worth the drive. Nestled between two charming towns, Cashiers and Highlands, this 2+ mile trek pays off with spectacular views. Approximate drive - 1 hour 20 minutes

if you have time and want to see some views from up high, this is one of my favorite trails. it is pet friendly, just keep on leash and keep kids close. the views are stunning! This is great for a day trip or half a day trip. you can stop at highlands to walk around and have lunch after :)
