Built in 1937, Timberline Lodge has always been a grand refuge for visitors wanting to experience the magnificent and expansive high-alpine environment of Mt. Hood. A night (or a few) enjoyed in the comfort and warmth of the Lodge is like stepping back into simpler times, yet with all modern…

!930s Ski Lodge and Ski Area on Mt Hood. Amazing and a must see. Grand central fireplaces and some great skiing. Remember the opening scene of The Shining? This is the lodge.

Café
“Local eatery/tavern. Wraps, burger, fries, etc. Local brews, decent coffee. I am allergic to gluten so there is not much I can eat here except the corn tortillas, but they are pretty good and very cheap so I have been happy to come back a couple of times. Laid-back causal place, nice outside area with picnic tables, grass, cornholes, and horseshoe games.”

Waterfall
“The Columbia Gorge boasts a multitude of hikes and sites, the most famous of which is the picturesque 600-foot-tall Multnomah Falls. It can get crowded during the spring and summer, but there are plenty of other beautiful options just miles from it. Be sure to check with sites like Gorge Friends to find which hikes are open after 2017’s catastrophic fires, and don’t even think for a second about bringing fireworks or anything similarly flammable.”

“Walk up to the museum and check out not only the history of this area, but the history of skiing. Check out all the levels of the place and they also have a nice gift shop. ”
