The main beach in the village of Calheta. As it is a sand beach (sand imported from Morocco), it gets a bit crowded during summer and is specially popular with families.

The Recreational Port of Calheta, located in Vila da Calheta, is the most western harbor of Madeira Island. One of the very few sand beaches on the island. It offers a wide range of service such as cruises, snorkelling, diving, and ocean related activities as well as restaurants and bars.

There is an awesome working Rum factory right next to the church that is open to visitors. Definitely worth a visit to both the beautiful church and the factory
