A decent day hike from here via the Lily St entrance to the Maribyrnong River Trail but the effort will reward! Vistas of the river from all different locations as the trail follows the river via Canning reserve to Brimbank Park. Path sealed for some of the way Hybrid Bikes recommended for unsealed paths.

Just a short drive from Merlo is Brimbank Park. The parklands offer ideal settings for picnics, walks along the extensive network of trails, fishing, canoeing and bird watching, all set within peaceful parklands surrounded by prolific birdlife. Brimbank Park is approximately 15km north-west of Melbourne in Keilor East. Follow the Calder Freeway to the Keilor Park Drive exit. The park entrance is 500 metres on the right. (Melways Map 15 B10). Brimbank Park is open seven days a week from 8.30am to 5.30pm (8.30am to 7.00pm during Daylight Savings)
