“Oldest lending library in America, founded in 1747. It’s a great place to think and read. At the 1747 Store, anything from an old design hardcover to an esoteric history book can be bought for as little as 50 cents.”

“Great restaurant with spectacular views! Best in spring/summer/fall to sit on lawn for a cocktail or meal! Pricey, but special.”

“St. Mary’s Church, In addition to its official services, hosted a number of society weddings. In 1871, Colonel Jerome Napoleon Bonaparte, grandnephew of the Emperor of France, married Caroline LeRoy Edgar, a granddaughter of Daniel Webster. Perhaps the most famous and poignant wedding took place on September 12, 1953 when Jacqueline Lee Bouvier was married to then-Senator John Fitzgerald Kennedy (later the 35th President) at St. Mary's Church, Newport. Over the three years that Kennedy held office, when he and the First Lady spent weekends in Newport, they attended Sunday Mass at St. Mary's Church. They always sat in pew #10. St. Mary’s Church is on the NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES.”
