Matisse spent a lot of time in this region. An very important impressionist artist, this museum is a must see. You can also buy prints of the artist’s work. Open 10am-6pm (closed on Tuesdays). Admission is 10 EUR for a ticket that’s good for 48 hours.
Small but in a nice area of Nice, next to the Jardin du Monastère (our favorite garden in Nice, all year round) and jardin des oliviers de Cimiez.
Nice stroll for a rainy day but don't expect too much. Major works are in the best international and Parisian museums
The Matisse museum is probably best for art historians. They do offer special exhibits, but not really the best of Matisse's work necessarily. The museum is in a great location next to an olive orchard, Roman ruins (museum of archeology). It is also close to the monastery where Matisse is buried.
