The Nature Center has a lot of information on local wildlife, bird watching and also have on exhibit a number of spactacular local animals including a huge horned owl that they bring out on occasion to meet visitors. They have other birds of prey in large display cages, including a beautiful small owl and I think an osprey. There are snakes and other local critters also. They have volunteers that will tell you about the dozens of trails throughout the park along the American River. Expect to see plenty of deer and turkeys on your walks as well as dozens of species of birds including hawks, vultures, wood peckers, humming birds and so many more. The nature center is in walking distance.

Not only a free museum and store, but awesome, easy trails all around next to the American River & American River Bike Trail!

The Nature Center has a raptor center (hawks and owls) and educational exhibits. Accessible parking lot. Three hiking trails in woodlands along the American River. Great for birding, photography, hiking.
