The Ian Potter Centre is the place to go if you're interested in learning all about Australian art, from the Colonial period and the famous Heidelberg School - think Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton, and Frederick McCubbin - through to contemporary Australian art. Here, you'll find photography, prints, drawings, fashion, textiles, decorative arts, and a suite of galleries dedicated to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander art. With special exhibitions and educational programs and new perspectives of the city through its glass matrix, NGV Australia is more than a great place to view art – it is a completely fresh approach that encourages people from all walks of life to enjoy the world of art. It is a spectacular showcase comprising over 20 galleries housed within a landmark architectural complex.

Australian Art- in comparison to the International NGV down the road. This gallery is also Free entry and a must see for any art lovers. Located in the Federation Square opposite Flinders Street station. Take the #1 Tram and get off at Flinders Street station stop. (about 15 min ride)
