Part of the world famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Can be done in day and takes on average 5-8 hours for a good walker. You need good walking shoes, water and refreshments.

An easy 1hr drive each way. Then get the shuttle back to your car. O get a shuttle there a d back from Taupo
