Combine a 20 mn walk in a full of olive trees preserved green hill in the heart of this 5 million city , with at the top of the hill a stunning view on Acropolis best profile ! ( like on postcards) . You will take the best pictures at late afternoon . On you way , stop at charming little Lombarda church .

On its top is the burial monument built by the Athenians in 114-116 AD, to honor their benefactor, the exiled ruler of Syria, Gaius Julius Antiochus Philopappos, who settled in Athens and became an Athenian citizen assuming public and religious duties.

The Monument is a treat after a pleasant walk up the Muses' Hill. The monument is fenced off to prevent vandalism but can still be enjoyed by viewers. You can stand or sit in one of the many benches. The monument offers great views of Athens and The Acropolis. The monument is a ruin of a 2nd-century tomb. Philopappos was an important Syrian dearly beloved by Athenian society and the imperial family. This monument is made of the famous Pentelic Marble as well as 2 other types on the lower portions.
