On the site of the mansion of the Gersei Pethő family, the construction of the castle was started by Kristof Festetics in 1745. It gained its final - neo-baroque - form in the 1880s.

Festetics Castle in Keszthely, today a museum and event center, is the third largest but most visited castle in Hungary. Its construction was started by Kristóf Festetics in 1745. The one-storey baroque mansion dating to the 18th and 19th centuries was rebuilt and expanded several times. The park of Festetics Castle is a nature reserve. Castle museum where you get that old world touch you came to experience in Hungary. Hungary boasts lots of beautiful castles and the one in Keszthely is not only one of the most famous, but also one of the most beautiful in my opinion. Tip: Check out the castle chapel.
