Cromford Mills The birthplace of the modern factory system. Cromford Mill is the world's first water-powered cotton spinning mill, developed by Richard Arkwright in 1771 in Cromford, Derbyshire, England. The mill structure is classified as a Grade I listed building. It is now the centrepiece of the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is a multi-use visitor centre with shops, galleries, restaurants and cafes.

You can walk along the canal and see the ducks, geese and narrow boats. There’s a cafe with great scones and sandwiches. And different one off activities you can pretty book at the mill.

World heritage site. Important historical location. Great museum, shops and events. Lovely canal/river walks. The village of Cromford is lovely too. With a quirky independent book shop, antique shop, independent chocolate shop and lovely places to eat.
