Saint Louis has one of the nation's best free zoos. Parking gets a bit crowded once a day gets busy, so be ready to either pay for parking or walk a bit. You can see large African cats, hippos, penguins, otters, and so much more.

“Forest Park, which is owned and operated by the City of St. Louis, is considered one of the nation’s greatest urban public parks. The Park’s 1,300 acres feature beautiful landscapes sprinkled with forests, ecosystems, nature reserves, lakes and streams, as well as five of the region’s major cultural institutions and endless opportunities for recreation. Forest Park attracts 13 million visitors each year, making it the sixth most visited urban park in the United States. “Everyone will ask how was the Arch when you return home. Yes, it is the place to go on your first trip. Returners though might find something new. The Arch now sports new inviting grounds and underground museum for all to explore, learn and enjoy. The Arch is located on banks of the Mighty Mississippi River at the edge of historic Laclede's Landing.”
