Bolton Steam Museum has over 27 old stationary steam engines, which volunteers have rescued from scrap and restored to run in steam once again. Very interesting for kids and adults alike!
Atlas Mills in Bolton were, in their heyday, one of the largest concentrations of cotton spinning capacity on one site in the country, with over 400,000 spindles in use and some 2,000 people employed. The area is rich with history, especially the cotton industry in and around Manchester and Bolton.
