Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison with over two miles of beach to comb this is an otherworldly day. 1 hour
We added Hammonasset under sightseeing because to us, it is a beautiful, walkable beach area. Head over to Meigs Point, and to the beach, walk left. There is a path that will take you to breathtaking views and it can be quite secluded. 51 minute drive.
Excellent for a long bike ride or picnic. They charge in season and often close the entrance at capacity. Walk the beach or follow the boardwalk.
One of the best state parks on the shoreline. A nature and bird sanctuary with wide beaches and dunes. If you are a bird watcher, look out for the snowy owl.
