This beautiful and spacious villa is away from the hustle and bustle of Shela, in the peaceful sand dunes behind the village. The beach/village are a 10 min walk away down a sandy lane. There are 5 stylish bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms (sleeping 10 guests), 3 kitchens with indoor/ outdoor living and relaxation spaces, a huge roof terrace perfect for star gazing as well as a plunge pool to cool down. Our lovely staff keep the house immaculate & will handle your laundry. There's fast wifi too!

The house has been recently and beautifully renovated, combining of authentic Swahili methods of construction with modern details. Ttunu House is a historic, merchant’s town mansion dating from 1740. Pumbao House is a stunning villa located 2 minutes away from the beach in the beautiful village of Shela, Lamu Island, Kenya. It features a private swimming pool with a fountain in a cool and shady yard and breathtaking sea views from the upper terrace. Pumbao House can welcome up to ten people with its 5 bedrooms. The stewards Mickael and Rehema & the cook Mwembe will welcome you, cook delicious dishes, keep the house clean and do your laundry.

Nyumba Kiru

Surrounded by century old baobabs, Nyumba Kiru is a stunning villa facing the ocean. Our house can welcome large group (14 pax) or just a couple for a romantic weekend. We rent out the whole house from 2 to 14 pax so you will never have to share with anyone. Nyumba Kiru has a pool, dining areas, bar, kitchen, umbrella and sun bed around the pool and on the beach. Wifi access and TV/DVD system. The house runs on solar system and generator.

Bone Idle

A rustic beach house, Robinson Crusoe style. At the southern tip of Lamu Island, the house faces the Indian Ocean as it rolls in along a great stretch of empty beach. An absolutely perfect place for simply doing nothing, one can nevertheless also lie on the beach, float out to sea or take long walks across the island. Lamu, centuries old, and the most ancient Swahili settlement on the East African coast, is just a 30 minute boat ride away.
