Or do just nothing at all except enjoy the country freshness, laze in the tub or sauna, snooze in the courtyard or watch a movie (smart TV with Netflix & Prime). Feels so relaxing, yet located only 30min from Chester, 60min from Manchester/Liverpool, 2.5 hours by train from London. Not far from the tiny 'city' of St Asaph is our little village with its tiny school and ancient church. The outlook into the Vale of Clwyd is stunning and from this location you will have gorgeous rural views, and the North Wales coastline and the snowy peak of Snowdon. No wonder this is officially designated 'An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. Our visitors are often entranced as they drive through the main gates and see the outlook for the first time! Best of all we are just 2.4 miles from the A55 so access to all that Denbighshire and North Wales has to offer is easily accessible, whether it be the mountains of Snowdonia National Park, the wild coastline, the adrenaline pumping zip lines, the historical sites or the ancient walled City of Chester.

Y Fron is a newly renovated stone cottage in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with exceptional views over the Vale of Clwyd in North East Wales. Surrounded by hills, fields and woodland, visitors can enjoy peace and quiet. There are beautiful walks from your door, including the Offa’s Dyke footpath. There’s also lots to explore locally, in our historic towns and villages and along the North Wales coast. Further afield, Snowdonia, Chester and Liverpool are all within reach.
The cottage is on our 8 acre smallholding, which is also home to a flock of Black Welsh Mountain Sheep and some friendly hens. The terrace at the back of the cottage looks out over woodland, the valley below and the hills beyond. On a clear day you can see the distant mountains of Snowdonia. Inside the cottage (which used to be a small barn housing animals), there are four rooms: the kitchen, the living room, the bedroom and the bathroom. Parking is available on a gravelled drive approximately 50 metres from the cottage, or closer on a grassy track if you prefer. Bikes can be stored securely in a nearby outbuilding. Tea, coffee and cooking basics (salt, pepper, cooking oil) will be provided for your arrival. If you are arriving on foot, we can provide additional food items if arranged in advance. Sorry but we do not accept pets. The cottage is strictly no smoking. There is no wi-fi in the cottage. The mobile phone signal is good. There is a small TV /DVD player with Freeview and a selection of DVDs, in the sitting room. There’s a DAB radio and a CD player. If visiting in wet weather remember to bring wellies or boots as farm tracks can be muddy! There is an unguarded log burning stove in the living room and two steps down into the kitchen with a solid stone floor. Outside there are no enclosed gardens, and the ground is steep and hilly. For these reasons we don’t think the cottage is suitable for children under the age of 5. A non-toddling baby or older children would be fine. People intending to use the sofa bed in the living room should note that the bathroom / toilet can only be accessed by going through the bedroom.
We are very fortunate to live in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Locally this includes a chain of hills with hillforts on their summits, offering stunning walks. There is no shop in Bodfari village, but there is a good range of shops and supermarkets in Denbigh, our nearest town, 4 miles away. There are also several cafes with free Wi-fi. Bodfari has an excellent pub/restaurant - The Dinorben Arms. It’s a pleasant 20 minute walk from the cottage, though be prepared for a steep climb on the way back! It’s advisable to book a table in advance if you want to eat there.

Geinas Farmhouse Stable Geinas Farmhouse Stable has been lovingly refurbished by the owners to provide a true romantic retreat for two. With accommodation that is light and airy and complimented by pretty pastel shades, a wonderful fully equipped kitchen and a cosy log burner with French doors leading to the patio, the cottage is ideal at any time of the year and provides a high level of comfort. Formerly the stable and having many previous uses (including housing the turkeys!), the cottage adjoins the owners Grade II listed farmhouse which dates back to 1749. Retaining much of its former character, interesting features displaying the buildings previous uses are still evident today including the stone squares in the courtyard wall used to house Beehives and a double wooded toilet in the small shed (not working), providing a fascinating glimpse of the bygone farming era. Chickens can be seen wandering the Orchard and grounds surrounding Geinas Farmhouse Stable which are bursting with fruit trees - guests are welcome to help themselves to fruit when in seasons and the chickens supply wonderfully fresh eggs (some are put in the welcome basket). Set in two acres of grounds, Geinas Farmhouse Stable sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the foot of the Clwydian Hill Range, affording lovely views that stretch across to Bodfari village with the beach just eight miles away. This delightful 'home-from-home' is a perfect retreat for a romantic break or walking holiday and is within walking distance of the local renowned pub - ideal for those seeking the hills, rivers or beach! The local area offers plenty of attractions and great days out. Enjoy exploring the Offa's Dyke National Trail (just five minute's away) and browsing the historic market towns of Denbigh (three miles by car) and Ruthin. There are an abundance of historic sites and the cottage is conveniently placed for enjoying all that Snowdonia has to offer and the historic sites and beautiful landscape of the Borderlands (including the walled City of Chester and magical Llangollen in a pretty riverside setting) to the east (forty five minutes by car). Whether you're looking for a welcoming retreat to simply relax, a base for exploring the areas many attractions or a holiday full of outdoor adventures, you are sure to want to return to Geinas Farmhouse Stable time and time again.

My place is close to the Offas Dyke and Clwydian Mountains. From the breakfast bar you get stunning views of the mountains. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with children).
A cosy cottage based in the foothills of the Clwydian Mountains. The cottage with its loft conversion sleeps 4, in a cosy double bed upstairs and a fun double Murphy bed downstairs. There are also extra put-me-up beds and travel cot available upon request making the accommodation available for six people plus a baby. As you enter the building you will be in the fully equipped kitchen; it has a fridge/freezer, microwave, dish washer and gas cooker. There is also a breakfast bar that looks out into a beautiful garden with stunning view of Moel Famau in the distance. The wet room is entered at the end of the kitchen and this has a fantastic rain shower. From the kitchen another door leads you into a large lounge and dining area, with comfortable sofas and stunning views over the fields to the mountains. In the lounge behind sliding doors you will find the Murphy bed fully equipped with reading lights and cosy bedding. French doors lead to a small private garden with patio area and BBQ, although this is fenced off from the main garden, this can be accessed by a small gate allowing you the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful plants and shrubs. There are loft stairs (a quirky narrow staircase) leading to a long cosy bedroom with a comfy double bed from where you can lie and look at the stars or pull down the blackout blinds for a long sleep. At the top of the stairs you will find comfy chairs and a small table where you can just sit relax and read your favourite book or one you have borrowed from the bookcase in the lounge.
We are located down a single track lane with just one set of neighbours who are lovely. There is a very low crime rate and most of the noise comes from the surrounding sheep and cows. There is however another property further down the lane so we do request that you reverse onto the drive way for your own safety so that you can then pull out onto the lane when you leave.
