Logements pour rester à Tynron
The cottage is close to fishing, the river Nith, woodland and far reaching valley views. The situation of this listed cottage is on a private track, very peaceful and nestled amongst established mixed woodland once part of the Barjarg Estate. The beds have memory foam mattresses with ironed cotton sheets. Centrally heated with wood stove. Opposite the cottage is a woodland track leading to a 1.3 acre walled garden. Host is situated 2 minutes walk away out of view for complete privacy.
The cottage is located on a private track as part of an old estate dating back to the 16th Century. Full of charm and history, the Back Lodge is a well maintained, recently refurbished listed cottage with original features, attractive wallpapers throughout and styled for comfort and relaxation. A victorian walled garden is located 90m from the front door, hosting a variety of organic fruit trees and bushes and currently being re-instated. The garden is surrounded by 8 acres of mixed woodland and paddock owned by the host, therefore you are guaranteed peace, quiet and privacy. The host lives in a cottage 2 minute walk down the private track to assist with any questions and to welcome you, but out of sight for your privacy and feeling of being completely surrounded by nature. 10 minute walk from the cottage is a well reputed and popular fishing beat; Barjarg Fishings with a comfortable fishing hut and 2 miles of salmon, sea trout and grayling fishing. Permits can be obtained in advance of your booking.
The main attraction for our visitors is the peaceful location set far from any main roads, plus the additional bonus of being on a private track leading to a dead-end so no other passing traffic other than the hosts. The charm of the cottage sets the scene for a genuinely natural beauty spot with traditional features. Barjarg Fishings on the Nith is less than a 10 minute walk away on a quite woodland road. The fishing beat is 2500m long and has a superb fishing cabin with heating, tea/coffee facilities and toilet. The River Nith is excellent for salmon, trout and grayling and can be booked through the fishpal website http://www.fishpal.com/Scotland/Nith/Barjarg Barjarg Tower nearby is a historic landmark, well tucked away and dates back to the 16th Century, however it is privately owned and not open to visitors. Only on occasions are the wonderful and established Estate gardens are open to the public.

O2 a lutté.

A beautiful home in Thornhill, just 5 minutes from Drumlanrig Castle and 13 miles from Dumfries, complete with a large TV System and outdoor space. This is a perfect place for a Couple to stay and visit the sights of Dumfries & Galloway.

After being introduced to Glebe Cottage back in 2013 we knew we just had to buy it. We had always aspired to run our own business since we moved to Moniaive in 2007. We saw this as our chance and pounced, the paperwork was signed and the journey began. The vision was to create a one bedroom retreat exclusively for couples. The worn out stable in the grounds would be the project. After 12 months, many set backs and struggles Wee Glebe was born. We invite you to come and stay and enjoy.
Wee Glebe offers its own private walled garden overlooking the Glencairn valley. Outstanding panoramic veiws from the hot tub not to be missed.
Glebe Cottage sits just off the A713 in a secluded elevated position in the hamlet of Kirkland 2 miles from the village of Moniaive. The A713 was the route Rabbie Burns would of taken when he travelled from Ayr to Dumfries. The views from the hot tub are stunning by day or night and is surrounded by wildlife and natural beauty.

Well-appointed, comfortable home and retreat from urban madness. Village shop, tea-room, post office, and Saturday afternoon Church Lunches and Teas provide socialisation, civilisation and comfort in full. Drumlanrig Castle and Glenmarlin water-falls close by. River walks and play-park. There is room DIRECTLY in front of the house for ONE CAR ONLY! Please respect as elderly neighbours adjoining need parking outside their homes. Thank You.
Fishers Holt is my family home which you are invited to enjoy in its entirety. I just ask you to respect the contents and look after them as your own. Many of the items are of great sentimental value but I am taking the risk of them being enjoyed rather than packed away. Please oblige.
Penpont is a small Scottish village with very friendly people who have chosen to live a close-knit and quiet life. It is home to artist Andy Goldsworthy and his Art-work can be seen locally. There is a thriving folk-music scene in the adjoining village of Moniaive and in wider Dumfries and Galloway which also has close connections to our National Bard, Robert Burns. It is the Birth-place of the African explorer Joseph Thomson and a small museum can be visited in Open afternoons.

Elizabeth Ann Hughes invites you to come and relax in luxury at the delightful Scaurbridge House, Penpont, Thornhill, a graded listed Georgian manse. The perfect place to unwind. Small private country house offering bed and breakfast all tailored to make your stay the very best at the most reasonable price. Welcoming, romantic, log fires, beautiful garden and scenery, great local food. Conveniently positioned for Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayr and Carlisle.
Scaurbridge House is just 4 miles from Drumlanrig Castle and 30 from Dumfries House. Fishing, shooting, walking, birdwatching, country pursuits and lots of unspoilt nature are in abundance here or nearby. Let me organise an itinerary or wander at will if you prefer. Whatever you choose, you can be assured of my attention to detail and to your individual requirements. Penpont is the birthplace of Joseph Thomson, the African explorer and the home of world renowned artist Andy Goldsworthy. Not far from Dumfries House, Crawick Multiverse, Charles Jencks' Garden of Cosmic Speculation, Craigdarroch House where Annie Lawrie (of the famous song) lived after her marriage and the Galloway Forest and Dark Sky Observatory. If art is your pleasure, there are sculptures by Henry Moore, Rodin and Epstein nearby and many interesting local artists offer visits to their studios showing a highly eclectic range of works during Spring Fling weekend at the end of May and throughout the year. Robert Burns farmed at Ellisland, just 10 miles away and Greyfriars Church was the scene of the killing of the Red Comyn by Robert the Bruce. Penpont lies approximately two miles west of the River Nith surrounded by the gentle hills which afford superb views. This historic area welcomes the fisherman, golfer, naturalist, rambler, cyclist or country lover.
Dumfries and Galloway is hailed as 'Scotland's Best Kept Secret' and Scaurbridge House, just outside the village of Penpont, Thornhill, is exactly that. Attention to detail and the warmest of welcomes makes staying with Elizabeth Ann Hughes a delightful experience. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated and the garden is a haven of peace and calm. Sit at the table beside the little fish pond watching the interesting birds which visit. If you are very quiet, and very lucky, you may see one of the rare red squirrels which scuttle along the dry stone walls on their way to collect pine cones from the old Scots Pine in the quietest corner of the garden. Last week I watched 2 beautiful goldcrests (Britain's smallest bird) busy in my garden. The swallows have arrived and I am looking forward to seeing my other arrivals from Africa such as the pied and spotted flycatchers which will be here soon. Drumlanrig Castle is nearby, go for a lovely walk in any direction and you may come across a sculpture by the world famous artist Andy Goldsworthy who lives in the area. Wander through Thornhill's tree lined avenues and enjoy bijou shopping far removed from the homogeneity of Britain's High Streets or fish on the Nith, 2 miles away. Golf, shooting, tennis, horse riding, walking and cycling can be arranged nearby. The area attracts artists and craftspersons who will be delighted to welcome you to their studios. Back at Scaurbridge, start your day with a wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, local bacon, sausages, black pudding or perhaps some smoked salmon with creamy scrambled eggs. Finish with Galloway oatcakes, local honey, fresh, hot, home made scones, and home made jams and marmalade.

If you like - wild swimming, open fires, castles, hill-walking from the door, barbecues, garden next to a river, dark skies and astounding stars, Robert Burns, the sound of running water, biking, wood fired range and terrific kitchen, down -duvets, giant bathtubs, books and more books, maps, views, red squirrels, a ducal palace, otters, deep sofas. no TV, (but a DVD screen for films by the fire) all from a 1745 centrally heated stone house - then you will like this house very much.
The Shinnel river runs around the garden. The house has two lovely sitting rooms, comfortable sofas, stone flagged hall, thick curtains, a library of books, 2 open fires (dry firewood provided) and a wood burning Esse range in a traditional kitchen - that is also equipped with convection oven, microwave, induction hob etc. and fine cookware. The house has full central heating, with good quality bedding and feather and down duvets. There is a barbecue, outdoor furniture, swimming in the river and lots to do in the area. The three large double bedrooms and a Scottish 'box bed' & all the rooms have views to the hills and over the river.
Bike to Drumlanrig Castle estate, Thornhill and Moniaive - both with shops and pubs and restaurants; closest railway stations at Sanquhar and Dumfries. This is a very pretty and traditional part of Scotland, with hills all around to walk in and explore. There are many local activities to enjoy, including art, music and book festivals, and important historic houses, castles and monuments. The Buccleuch & Queensberry hotel has an excellent restaurant, and in the house log book you will find many more recommendations. The local grocery shops in Thornhil are open every day and you can therefore stock up on supplies on arrival. Tesco will deliver into the glen.

    Alison2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Belle maison, cadre parfait. Un endroit pour se détendre et profiter. Quel que soit le temps.

    Michael2019-07-30T00:00:00Z

Woodlea studio apartment is a stylish space on the first floor of a magnificent country house located a mile from the conservation village of Moniaive. There are wonderful views over the extensive gardens to the fields and hills beyond. This is a perfect retro rural retreat suitable for couples. It has it’s own entrance at the rear of the property.
Facilities include an ensuite bathroom complete with Victorian roll top bath and shower, a kitchen area for light snacks (microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge), television, internet and a shared laundry room with washing machine and sink. Guests are welcome to relax in the beautiful gardens or even enjoy a fun game of tennis on our slightly wobbly tennis court.
The festival village of Moniaive, described by BBC’s Countryfile as the “jewel in the crown of Dumfries & Galloway” is renowned for it’s vibrant arts community, and hosts many events including music festivals, live theatre, cinema screenings and exhibitions. It has two excellent pubs, a well stocked village shop and post office, a popular Italian restaurant, a garage & petrol station and a tea room serving lunches & snacks. The house is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and is popular with hikers, cyclists, fishers, bird watchers and photographers. You may even see a red squirrel or two in the garden, along with a wide variety of birds. There are many wonderful walks and cycle routes on the doorstep.

Our cottage is near rivers, forests, great views, fun activities, a wildlife conservation area, Moniaive village, Drumlanrig castle & other gems. We are very dog friendly, as we have a large gated off area. You’ll love the cottage because of peace, tranquility, greenery, privacy, large garden, sound of the river, open fire places, super king size bed & Victorian bathtub. The cottage is great for couples, fishing parties, people attending events, furry friends and anyone just wanting to get away!
Our cottage is special for numerous reasons. It is a comfy, inviting and pretty building, settled outside a sleepy village. There are only a hundred residents spread out over 9 square miles, so we can see as many or as few people as we like. We are situated at the foot of a wildlife conservation forest with a beautiful, bubbling river passing only 100 feet behind the cottage, so is idyllic in many different ways. The cottage itself has a spacious garden, surrounded by an enclosed 8 foot hedge, so we enjoy a great deal of privacy. It's a perfect setting to relax. The garden is secured all the way around, so children and pets can play in complete security. The neighborhood has no overhead lighting, so the view of the constellations is utterly spectacular! We adore the cottage and are very happy to share it when we're not lucky enough to be here ourselves.
The neighborhood is wonderfully comprised of a small number of houses, spread over miles of land. The people here are friendly, but respect other's privacy. There is an obvious effort to enjoy traditional life and country pursuits. Over the hill only two miles away is the vibrant village of Moniave, winner of a prestigious 2015 Creative Place Award.

Your room is an ideal place for relaxing and quiet contemplation as it is a very peaceful and serene space. Your room is centrally heated and also has an electric fire. The cottage is in a particularly quiet and idyllic spot, with many lovely walks available from the front door. A kettle and everything you need for a light breakfast is left in your room so you can make your own hot drinks and you can have breakfast whenever you like. There is a shared bathroom with shower. Your room has a hairdryer, TV/ DVD player and free wifi.
The cottage is in a lovely part of South West Scotland in the foothills of the southern uplands, with lots of opportunities for walking and cycling in the quiet lanes around the area. Tynron is a pretty conservation village set in beautiful rolling countryside near the buzzing villages of Moniaive and Thornhill. Moniaive is 1.5 miles away and makes a superb destination for a walk over Dunreggan brae with stunning views. It has 2 hotels, a cafe, a shop and garage . Thornhill is 5 miles away and has more shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes, a library and a golf course. There is a public swimming pool with steam room and sauna in Sanquhar, 12 miles north. There are lots of interesting historical sites nearby, as well as wildlife facilities and countryside pursuits. Welcome to Old Bank House, a much loved family home dating back to 1790. Full of character, history and quirks, it is shabby chic and cosy. Situated in the centre of Moniaive, next door to the Craigdarroch Arms Hotel, a stone's throw from the village shop and Picolla Italia. You have a prime location for a fabulous stay whether you're visiting Moniaive for a music festival or for a fabulous location from which to explore the rest of Dumfries and Galloway and the National Forest Park.
Old Bank House has a lot of history, the area open to guests was the bank manager's home, the old bank is the wing attached to it. It is a grade B listed building with many period features. It is a spacious fabulous family home from home - and is NON SMOKING. The spacious elegant lounge has comfortable sofas to relax on with a large TV (free view only) for your to watch and a log burning stove which when lit makes the room incredibly cosy and comfortable. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric oven / hob and Aga, though the Aga is currently not working. There is also a microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, plenty of cutlery, cooking utensils, crockery, mugs, glass tumblers and wine glasses - so if you choose to cook a meal you should have everything you need. The large dining table is large enough for family or group meals. The 3 bedrooms have comfy beds for a good night's rest and 2 bathrooms and 2 separate loos mean there shouldn't be too much of a queue to use the facilities. One bathroom has a shower over the bath (it is no power shower - but enough to rinse yourself with). There is a box room which contains a travel cot, iron and ironing board. Bed linen and towels are provided for each guest. The house has central heating and a log burning stove in the living room to keep you lovely and cosy. The back garden is walled, so dog friendly and has enough lawn to kick a ball about. There are lovely mature trees, shrubs and some fruit bushes which give it character. It is a Secret Garden in the middle of a village. Front garden is not yet dog proof. You can park 4 cars on the double drive. The crazy paving on the drive is CRAZY! The stones wobble like something out of the Krypton factor. They need re-set and this is on our to -do list - so please be careful. Old Bank House is in need of some additional work, both inside and out and we have a number of projects in place to improve this fabulous house. Our aim is that it offers a comfortable place to rest and will be a stylish boutique residence. Old Bank House is owned by Liz Cole, founder of The Moniave Chocolatiers in Thornhill and hosted on her behalf by Katy Caie. Katy has previously hosted her own home Grennan Cottage as AirBnB.
Craigdarroch Arms Hotel - is next door, and has regular live bands playing and hosts music festivals.
