Neighborhoods

An easy 15 minute walk or 6 minute drive to the heart of picturesque Uptown Kingston/ Stockade. You will find clothing boutiques, household goods, art and antiques, jewelry and local ice cream, with several bakeries, coffee shops and restaurants. For the history of Kingston visit the site of the first NY State Senate, built in 1676. A 2 min. walk to John St. and Crown St. you will see the "four corner" houses - the only intersection in America where the buildings on all four corners were built before the Revolutionary War. One of the buildings is currently an archeological dig and can be visited (limited hours). Then drop by Rough Draft Bar and Books on the other corner. Every Saturday you can wander around the Farmer's Market (every second Saturday and indoors in the winter months) in the shadow of the Old Dutch Church with its 225 ft steeple. Need a pick-me-up after all that walking? Try the Stockade Tavern, truly authentic cocktails.
