Sightseeing

Our most local and favourite beach, a 2 minute drive away. Great walks on the South West cost path. Head north across the kelseys to Polly Joke beach and you may stumble across a private beach with no access to by land where local seals are often spotted sunbathing (roughly an hours walk). Head south from Holywell and walk past the penhale army camp where you can see Dartmoor ponies grazing on the cliff tops before heading to perr a Porte and grabbing the bus back as takes a good 2 hours to walk.

Our other local beach, a little more off the beaten track so invariably it is quieter than most newquay beaches. A small and quaint little beach where cattle often come down in the midday sun to drink from the fresh water stream on the beach. At certain times of the year you maybe lucky enough to see the poppy fields in full bloom.

The last beach between us and Newquay and it is a lovely beach. Can get busy in summer but it is worth the effort to get down there especially when the tide is in and the Gannel estuary is calm. It can be a great spot for kayaking, canoeing etc.

A historical fishing port that is still busy with fisherman to this day. The harbour restaurant is usually a hive of activity and this can often add to the atmosphere. Fisherman are often seen brining in their daily catch, and you can always jump on a fishing tripping boat. A good all rounder is the 1 hour pleasure cruise where you can see the town from the sea and even catch some mackerel to feed the local seals.

A bike trail from Wadebridge to Padstow is a very popular way to spend a day. It is about 8 miles of flat cycle track where you can hire bikes or take your own. The camel trail actually runs from Padstow all the way to Bodmin and is about 18 miles. The Bodmin stretch runs by Camel Valley winery where you can go in and give them a try.
