Sightseeing

They call it the " loveliest castle in the world" and it's certainly pretty. Situated on the River Len, it has a splendid moat. Henry VIII's first wife, Catherine of Aragon lived there (out of sight, out of mind, maybe). As well as general visits, the castle has lots of special events and a restaurant.

Parks & Nature

Enjoy the beauty of the North Downs and the views across Kent to the sea. The chalk grassland has all sorts of special flora and fauna and the Pilgrims Way is an ancient trackway used by pilgrims visiting Canterbury.

This lonely corner of the country is Britain's only desert - because of its low rainfall. We've been on the beach here and watched the black clouds skirt round us to the north. The beach is stones and shingle and shelves steeply so it's not good for swimming.
