Sightseeing

You can walk here from our home (some busy streets), in around 20min. It is stunning, if you love nature there’s birds and plants and a bonsai exhibit—and you can even drive through it if you want! Highly recommend getting lost in this place with a picnic and hiking shoes.

Go here on Sunday @4PM for the local drum circle. It’s been going on for over 60 years, and is truly a DC sight to see. It’s a large park, so bring a picnic and some frisbees or whatever you’d enjoy and watch the sunset.

This is our favorite spot to watch the sunset, you’ve got a view in front of you and behind with the Washington monument, and Ab Lincoln! We recommend doing a night bicycle ride around the monuments and end at the Jefferson Memorial. It’s the best during the cherry blossom season. :)

Adventure

This is a FREE skating rink in a National park just off the Anacostia River. Great for BBQs, has basketball courts and plenty of parking, bike and hike trails, and kayak entry points.

We love kayaking and canoeing, and there is always a place to rent on the water front. Either here or other eater fronts, and you can take water taxis between the towns! Sorry folks, no swimming...still city water, but LOVE the sights!

Saturday’s the roads are blocked off for folks to walk through this area, bring your skates or bike, or even go off the road and hike around! Plenty of places to picnic - or even hit up a farmers market nearby! Tennis courts are way up the path, and even horses. Highly recommend!
