This a great restaurant with great atmosphere and specialises in Scottish food especially fresh fish. The Cullen Skink is to die for. They do a great breakfast too. There is restaurant, cafe. I would recommend booking. They also have a take out counter serving the best fish n chips in Glasgow which you can take back to the flat! Its a 20min walk or a taxi ride.

A gem less than 5 minutes from the flat. The restaurant itself is very small but they have a take out menu so brilliant for eating in. The menu changes daily depending on what is in season. Make sure you add aubergine fritters to your order.

The renowned elegant brasserie in the very cool Ashton Lane is well worth setting an evening side for. The menu is posh Scottish with the hot smoked organic salmon would be my choice. About £40 each but worth it for service surroundings and food and because youre worth it! There are plenty of bars in Ashton Lane for pre and post dinner drinks.

Mono is a vegan cafe and the staff are always welcoming whether you want just a coffee or a vegan pizza. I love to order the fava bean dip and fries for friends to share. They have a micro brewery and have a selection of microbrewed soft brinks like rose lemonade. Often there are live bands. It also houses a vinyl record shop.

The combination of friendly service and wonderful food make this my favourite Indian restaurant in Glasgow. Often its the choice for family celebrations and the staff have always been delightful(including a chorus of happy birthday from all the waiters for my daughters 9th birthday!) What to recommend-all of it-just order all of it!

Arts & Culture

The famous Charles Rennie Mackintosh building is a wonder to behold. Despite the utterly devastating fire in 2014 there is still plenty to see. Just viewing the building from the street seems a great privelage. Tours are available and I would highly recommend it-if youre a fan its a must and if youre not a fan the tour will have you converted. If its a Mackintosh pilgrimage you are on this is just the start.

Stunning Charles Rennie Mackintosh school, again just looking at the building from the street fills one with wonder. Inside is beautiful as it is practical and preserved as a museum. Its so interesting and the staff are enthusiastic and eager to help. Its an underground trip from Cowcaddens to Shield Road and entry is free. Worth a visit especially on a rainy day.

Although within walking distance a trip on the underground probably best way to get to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. The exhibits are wide ranging and include a natural history area with dinasaurs and taxidermy.I love that Salvador Dali's Christ of St John of the Cross is here. Easy to spend a good few hours here and of course there is a coffe shop. Its a hop and a skip to Kelvingrove Park which is lovely for an afternoon stroll or a morning jog.

Gallery to temporary exhibitions that whether you love or loath usually spark some sort of discussion and always worth while. GOMA as we fondly call it has a library and coffee shop. My favourite part however is the giftshop that has unusual and resonably priced souvenirs-worth a visit for this alone.
