Our converted barn is in a peaceful location and beautiful setting. In close proximity to a stunning local nature reserve and a short drive from historic Bury St Edmunds and Lavenham. The station in the local village of Thurston offers regular services to Cambridge and Norwich. The area has plenty of country walks, great pubs and restaurants, and the Suffolk coast is within an hours drive.
Hedgerow Barn is Grade II listed and has been beautifully converted to retain its original features. The studded beam work is all exposed, and it offers a large open plan living space with all the facilities you would expect. The Barn offers rustic period charm with 21st century living. Many of the furnishings are antique. There are two TVs, one concealed behind the cupboard doors above the fireplace in the living area with a DVD player, the other in the upstairs double bedroom. There is a very efficient electric heating system with an independent thermostat for every room. The Barn is well equipped for self catering with many cooking utensils, gas hob and oven, microwave, toaster, undercounter fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher, washer/dryer, iron and ironing board. To minimise the provisions you need to bring the following are all provided in the Barn: Muesli, Cornflakes, 1.5 litres milk, tea, green or herbal tea, coffee ( freeze dried instant and cafetière if you want to bring ground coffee) black pepper, salt and olive oiled vinegar. the bathrooms have shower gel, shampoo and soap at every basin. You will also find kitchen roll, dustbin liners and all washing up equipment, including dishwasher tablets. If you want to eat out there are plenty of places locally, many of them listed in the orange file in the Barn - ask us if you want any details in advance. Bury st Edmunds has all the major supermarkets (Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda ) so if you want to arrange an online delivery to arrive ahead of you, tell us your slot and we will receive it for you and make sure all perishables are put in the fridge/freezer. Additional fridge/ freezer space can be provided on site if required. We also provide loo roll, all towels, tea towels, bed linen ( except if you are using our travel cot when you will need to bring your own cot bedding). You'll find shampoo, hairdryer and soap at every basin. We are happy to clean the Barn and change the linen mid-stay for guests renting the Barn for more than a week - let us know when you arrive ( or during your stay)if you would like this and we can arrange a mutually convenient time.
The barn is set in the heart of rural Suffolk. There is a Suffolk Wildlife Trust nature reserve in easy walking distance. There are two local pubs in the village, at least four dog friendly pubs within walking distance and many more in surrounding villages. The medieval historic town of Bury St Edmunds, with its cathedral, abbey and twice weekly market is a 10 minute drive away. There is an excellent Christmas market here. Beautiful historic Lavenham with its beams and thatched cottages is a 25 minute drive away. National Trust properties including Ickworth Park and Melford Hall are all within a half hour drive. For children Banham Zoo and Jimmy's Farm are easily accessible. A 10 minute drive away is Wyken Vineyard which has a high quality gift shop called the Leaping Hare,a fantastic restaurant and weekly farmers market. There are many other excellent restaurants and in the area.

My place is in the heart of rural Suffolk, close to good London / Cambridge rail links and within a 20 min drive from historic Bury St Edmunds with its famous Abbey gardens and recently restored cathedral. You’ll love my place due to its 'get away from it all' location, a base from where you can cycle quiet country roads, explore our beautiful Suffolk villages or maybe relax in one of our good local pubs. Tea / coffee and various breakfast items are provided along with cooking facilities.
The Annexe, although joined to our property is private with its own entrance and patio area, it has a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, fridge, oven and hob. The bed is a large double that folds out from a corner sofa in the spacious living area that includes an ensuite with shower cubicle. We also have free wifi.
  • Endroit calme.

    Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, Royaume-Uni

A contemporary, cosy detached annex tucked away privately in our garden, with unique outdoor forge area to relax and unwind. We are surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside and wildlife, with quiet roads and tracks for cycling and walking. We are just a 20 minute drive from the quaint market town of Bury St Edmunds and also within easy reach of Newmarket, Cambridge and Norwich.
The Lodge is a bright, warm, fresh living space, with bedroom, ensuite shower room, kitchen and sitting room. Patio doors open onto a private patio area with seating and BBQ facilities. Poppy Forge, especially for our guests use, is a unique outdoor covered area with a wood burning fireplace, great to sit outside and cosy up in the evenings.
We are located in a tiny hamlet but easily reached by car or bicycle. The villages surrounding us provide very good local amenities such as grocery shops, butchers, post office, tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and a Saturday morning farmers market.

On reviendra certainement.

This lovely country cottage was newly converted 2 years ago. It has all modern ammenities and is set within our 6 acre farm near Wetherden. It is a peaceful retreat yet close to ammenities in Elmswell, Bury St. Edmunds and Stowmarket. However, because the cottage is in this setting WiFi is provided by a mobile device which is fine for collecting e mails and surfing the net but will not support large downloads of data.
This is a quiet and tranquil space and the garden is fenced in.
This is a beautiful quiet spot but there is easy access to the A 14 which means you can get to Bury St. Edmunds or Cambridge easily.

The Stable is a private self catering holiday annex at Mullion Barn, a 17th Century Grade II listed barn, converted in 2008. It's quietly positioned in the picturesque village of Hessett, located on the edge of a beautiful tourist town, Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. A one-bedroom, single storey holiday let ideal for that perfect getaway for couples or small families. As part of a beautifully and sympathetically converted barn, The Stable has a wealth of original features with modern furnishings.
The Stable is part of Mullion Barn, a large 17th century barn converted in 2008. Said to be the best preserved in the country and considered of national significance dating around 1610, this sympathetically, recently converted barn offers a wealth of original features, furnished in a traditional and yet comfy style. Leading from the living room of The Stable, double French doors open out onto the garden with table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco. With plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay, this is ideal for that perfect getaway.
The Stable is located in the quiet and picturesque village of Hessett in Suffolk, on the edge of the town of Bury St Edmunds. Ideal for a getaway where you can do as little or as much as you wish. Beautiful countryside walks along the Suffolk country lanes and footpaths can be taken straight from the barn door. Local pubs are within walking distance (around 20 to 30 minutes on foot, in our neighbouring village Beyton), and the market town of Bury St Edmunds is just 5 miles away by car. Our local pub (2 minute walk!) The Five Bells in Hessett is currently undergoing a beautiful restoration and we are hoping it will be ready and open towards the end of the summer in 2020. Luckily we have a number of wonderful pubs within a few miles of Hessett, see the Guest Folder at the property for lots more info. Bury St Edmunds is a historical and very picturesque town very popular with visitors young and old. Full of cafes and restaurants and the shopping is perfect as the town centre is big enough to have all the major retailers and boutique independent shops too. We must not forget about the amazing Wednesday and Saturday street market either, said to be one the best in East Anglia. A must see is the spectacular Cathedral, historical Abbey Ruins and award winning Abbey Gardens, all next to each other in the centre of town. Outside of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk contains some wonderful historic sites and buildings including the dramatic castle at Framlingham and the famous ship burial of an Anglo Saxon warrior king and his most treasured possessions at Sutton Hoo. Visit Aldeburgh, just 40 miles away, and experience the stunning historic coastline, or Southwold, famous for its exclusive, multi coloured beach huts and fabulous pier. Lavenham and Long Melford, the home of medieval wool towns with their crooked, timbered cottages, gorgeous tea rooms, posh restaurants and ancient churches are also a must for visitors. Nearby Newmarket is the heart of horseracing and boasts two race courses, the National Horse Racing Museum and National Stud. Most early mornings you can see race horses exercising on the gallops at Newmarket.

Little Oaks is a unique 1 bedroom cottage. It is surrounded by fields yet in easy reach of the A14 and cities/towns like Bury St. Edmunds and Cambridge. It has its' own private fenced garden and their is a play area on site that children can use if they would like. It is a new conversion. The cottage is in a peaceful setting however this means that WiFi is provided by a mobile device which is fine for collecting e mails and surfing but not for downloading large volumes of data. We welcome pets.
This cottage is set within the 6 acres of Whitehouse Farm with wonderful walks on the door step. The garden is fenced in and Little Oaks has its own BBQ area. There is a pond on the property and a childrens play area.
There are many good places to eat out locally and within the cottage there is a directory of where we recommend to eat out. There are good ammenities in Elmswell, which is the next village. These include a small supermarket and take aways.

    John2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Quelle magnifique petite escapade.

Our village home has a large garden with patio, summer house, and firepit available. The view over the back fields give you a real sense of peace and well-being. The house is furnished in simple country style with a Scandinavian twist. All the rooms have good light and gorgeous views. The property is self-catered, however we do provide a welcome hamper of breakfast goodies. All this despite having easy access to the town of Bury St Edmunds, and close rail links with Cambridge and London.
There is parking for up to 3 cars on the front drive, and lots of space for bicycles and walking gear. Our home is at the end of a shingle drive and offers complete seclusion, lots of gorgeous scenery to explore and a taste of village life at the local farm shop and other local events. There are two pubs at walking distance, and many more restaurants and activities in the medieval town of Bury St Edmunds.
We provide a complete welcome brochure in the property with local attractions and land marks. Just as a taster, some of our favourite activities are: coffee at 'Guats Up' followed by a stroll through the Abbey Gardens in the centre of Bury St Edmunds; local Suffolk vineyard and restaurant 'Wyken Vineyard' ; and further afeild, a punt along the river Cam in the city of Cambridge

  • Absolument fabuleux.

Set in the peaceful hamlet of Ward Green in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, Long Thatch Lodge is a charming retreat for two people looking for the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing break. The Lodge is a great base to explore Suffolk’s historic towns, houses, gardens, heritage coast, nature reserves and countryside. It offers a cosy and tranquil stay with its own private garden with secluded outdoor seating areas to watch the abundant local wildlife.
Downstairs Front stable door opens onto hallway with pamment brick flooring and steep paddle staircase. Open plan living/dining area and a well equipped modern kitchen (including electric oven, hob, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle). Stylish corner sofa with a large flat screen TV and DVD player. Dining table with two chairs. Bi-fold doors open onto a sunny decking area with outdoor seating along with picnic table/benches overlooking the small orchard and fields beyond. In the living/dining area there is also a wood burning stove making those chillier months much cosier. Upstairs Comfortable wooden-based double bed with deep 'Tempur' mattress which aids independent sleeping. There is space to hang clothes and a chest of drawers as well as a wall-mounted flat screen TV. Ensuite bathroom with bath, hand basin and WC. Mirror with light and electric shaver point. The bath has a mixer tap with handheld shower attachment for use whilst seated. It cannot be used as a standing full shower as the water pressure will only allow cold water to flow in its fully extended position. All 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels are provided. Heating throughout the lodge is electric (manually adjustable) with constant hot water.
Staying in the lodge offers the chance to take walks on the small country lanes and footpaths which are on its doorstep. Located in an area of gentle rolling countryside which is mainly arable farming land. At certain times of the year farming activities such as ploughing, harvesting, bird scaring etc take place, this is a delightful backdrop to the rural scene to many of us but we realise it won’t be the case for everyone. We are very lucky to be located in such a peaceful area, but sadly can’t guarantee total silence. The nearest village is Old Newton (3 minutes by car) where there is a small village shop as well as a great Chinese takeaway! Nearby, the picturesque village of Haughley has a post office, convenience store, Indian restaurant, great traditional bakery and the fabulous Kings Arms public house. The small town of Stowmarket is ten minutes away offering a wider range of shops, banks, supermarkets, cafes and the Museum of East Anglian Life. The market town of Bury St Edmunds is 25 minutes away and great for shopping, culture, theatre, cinema, gardens and award winning restaurants and cafes.

We are 25 mins from Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket. Accessible to the local village pub and shop which is 5 mins drive. Swallow Barn is situated off a quiet lane in a small village surrounded by beautiful countryside and wildlife. The property is separate to our 16th century Grade 2 listed home and we are happy to accept well behaved dogs. Please contact us before booking if you wish to bring them. Open fields surrounding the property provide plenty of lovely walks.
Swallow Barn is a converted barn adjacent to our very special 16th Century timber framed house. We have converted the barn to a high specification, taking into account our favourite bits of all the holiday lets we have stayed in over the years. We aim to create a sense of cosiness without loss of practicality. The barn affords lovely views over the field and is light and airy. In winter the woodburner adds a warm glow to those cold winter days. Swallow Barn's unique feature is that it is in a very special position, overlooking open fields. It has it's own garden which is a haven for wildlife. We commonly see a variety of birds and deer walk through our meadow. We are big dog lovers and own 2 rescue dogs, we are happy to accept well behaved dogs. We own dogs ourselves and have a cat who is dog friendly to dogs who know how to treat him! Dog guests will be able to share the use of our 2 acre field behind the house. Please note owners will need to bring their own dog bedding.
Swallow Barn is a haven for wildlife, we regularly see swallows, hares, ducks, pheasants and deer, sometimes a magical barn owl. Bird watchers are in easy reach of Minsmere and Suffolk Wildlife Trust have several nearby nature reserves, one of which takes dogs. We have barns surrounding the property which house nesting swallows which duck and dive over the fields all summer long and are fascinating to watch in the cool of the evening.

  • Hou la la! Quel super endroit.

Charming 16c. 'Grade II' listed 3 bed cottage nestling peacefully at the end of an unmade road but within walking distance of village amenities. Careful renovation has provided a comfortable, well equipped holiday home with charm & character. There are stunning views across the garden to the countryside beyond. The house provides comfortable accommodation for a maximum of 4 people with 3 first floor bedrooms and a ground floor bathroom. BT WiFi installed. Ask re discounts for longer stays
The living room is comfortably furnished with two sofas, a dining table and chairs for 4-6 people, television with 'free to view' channels, also a DVD and Video player and a plentiful supply of books, board games and videos, CD's and DVD's. WiFi is available free of charge and has recently been improved by using BT. The kitchen is well-equipped with double oven electric cooker and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, slow cooker, mini food mixer, liquidiser, coffee grinder, iron and ironing board. The bathroom is on the ground floor and comprises bath with shower over and shower screen, low level WC and wash hand basin. There is a small utility room with washing machine. Upstairs 3 bedrooms lead off the landing, a large double with 5' bed and two other bedrooms, one having a full sized double bed and the other a 4' double. Each of the latter two rooms is fairly small and therefore listed as single. All bedrooms have hanging space and drawers for storage, plus bedside lights. The house is heated by night storage heaters. The house is let for a maximum of 4 people, but the bedrooms allow for some flexibility and could suit 2 couples, 3 single people or a family of 4. The garden has an unfenced pond, hence no children under 10. Outside is a good sized garden with a linen line. The garden table, chairs and barbecue are kept in a garden storage box at the back of the house. We have a local gardener who calls regularly to cut the grass. He tries always to do this on change over days, however, the weather and other commitments don't always make this possible. He would usually only be at the cottage for around an hour during the afternoon when the grass is more likely to be dry and this is usually around once every two weeks. There is good off road parking. Although this is a 'no smoking' property you are welcome to smoke in the garden. Well behaved dogs (not cats) are welcome, although we ask that they are 2 years or over . We must ask you to take into consideration that the garden is not dog proof and so it's important that your pet isn't the sort to stray. Your pet may also like to swim in the pond which could result in the need to dry him/her before coming back indoors. Please bring any additional towels that may be needed for this purpose. There are 4 houses on the other side of the lane to Pond Cottage. Although they are on the other side of the lane, until the hedge around the garden of Pond Cottage has grown more, the garden is a little overlooked from their kitchen windows which are at the front. Currently the hedge is around 1.2 metre high. At the bottom of the garden you look out over open fields. Check in time is from 17:00 hours and check out time is up to 13:00 hours. Please check with the owner to see if there can be flexibility
This is a beautiful part of a beautiful county and within easy reach of many favourite tourist opportunities being only 3 miles from the A14. A range of tourist information is available in the cottage. Newmarket (29 miles), is famous for it's connections to horse racing. The University City of Cambridge is only 43 miles, why not try your hand at punting on the river. Historic Bury St. Edmunds can be reached in around 15 to 20 minutes. The City of Norwich is also easily accessible at only 33 miles. Stowmarket Railway Station is just 2.5 miles. It has a good car park and a regular service through to London, Liverpool St., usually taking about an hour and 35 minutes. Ipswich Town is just 16 miles. Its' Old Port and Water Front have been transformed into a beautiful marina and the buildings developed into apartments and waterside cafes, bars and restaurants. The Christchurch Park and Mansions is also well worth a visit. A little further afield is the Roman town of Colchester (Camulodinum) (32 mies) with its' historic castle, built on the earlier Roman temple of the Emporer Claudius. The foundations and massives vaults can be viewed on a tour of the castle. There are also the remains of Roman walls and much else to see. Opportunities abound for days out in and around north Suffolk. Quite aside from the wonderful walks in rolling countryside there are many sites of historic or architectural interest, for example Grimes Graves, a neolithic mining site, Amongst places well worth a visit is Kentwell Hall at Long Melford (26 miles), where Tudor life is re-enacted for you, allowing you to become a part of a Tudor community for a day. The Museum of East Anglian Daily Life in nearby Stowmarket provides an insight into the old East Anglia and includes opportunities to experience steam power, see rare breed farm animals and traditional country crafts. English Heritage maintain and open to the public both Framlingham Castle (a 12th century fortress, once the home of Mary Tudor) and Orford Castle (one of Englands' most complete and unusual keeps), where you will be transported back in time with an informative audio tour. Visit the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary (3 flying displays daily from Easter to September) and Stonham Barns, a unique leisure and shopping venue with lots to interest all the family. For those visiting Ipswich it is worth taking a short diversion to Jimmys' Farm (of TV fame) at Wherstead, where animals are raised organically and where the shop sells locally grown food of all sorts. There is also a cafe. The English Whisky Company, winner of European Whisky of the Year 2015 is located just 24 miles away at Roudham in Norfolk. They do guided tours and have a shop and cafe. Their web site is worth a visit. Pleasurewood Hills, a family theme park, also makes a good day. Venturing a little further afield to Wroxham (42 miles) and you will be able to experience a day trip on the Norfolk Broads. Try a river cruise with Waveney River Tours from Oulton Broad (44 miles) or from Snape Maltings (29 miles). A more complete range of tourist information, suggested themed walks and local information is available at the cottage. Golf: Stowmarket Golf Club (5 miles), Stoke by Nayland (29 miles), Witnesham (15 miles), Sprowston Manor, Norfolk (40 miles), Colchester (32 miles), Woodbridge (44 miles), Bury St. Edmunds 17 miles. This is not a definitive list. For those keen on fishing a visit to the Suffolk Waterpark is a must. Located only 14 miles from Pond Cottage it is a former quarry works. The fishery has been carefully developed, and the result is a magnificent site, offering some of the very best fishing in the area. They cater for anglers of all abilities, and offer professional teaching for absolute beginners of any age. Although there is much to do in this area, you may, of course, just wish to crash out, let your hair down and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside around Pond Cottage. You could perhaps take a walk around and beyond the village playing field behind the Village Hall just a couple of hundred metres away. If you have youngsters with you, they may like to use the play area behind the village hall. There is a family friendly bar in the sports and social club next to the village hall.
