The beach in East Looe sits directly in front of the old town, sheltered from the west by the famous Banjo Pier and overlooked from the east by the hillside of Mount Arara. At low tide there is a large gently sloping sandy beach which is generally safe for swimming, although it is not recommended to swim by the river mouth beyond the pier. The beach backs on to a seafront walkway which runs the length of the beach all the way to ‘Second Beach’ just to the east. The rock / sand beach here is a great spot to get away from the crowds and good for snorkelling.

The term "hidden gem" is often used to describe some of the more remote beaches in Cornwall, but if there is any one beach that deserves this title it would be Lantic Bay. Located on the quiet, but stunning stretch of coast between Fowey and Polperro this is not the kind of place you simply stumble upon. However, once found you will be rewarded by a vista of near white sand and turquoise water all set in a bay backed by high, verdant cliffs.

Lantivet Bay is one of three small coves, alongside Lansallos and Lantic Bays, looked after by the National Trust. Located between Polruan to the west and Polperro to the east, Lantivet Bay is a fine example of Cornwall's beautiful coastline. Set in a tiny cove flanked by steep cliffs the beach reveals a relatively modest patch of sand towards low tide.

In the shelter of Gerrans Bay on the picturesque Roseland Peninsula is Carne Beach. Carne is probably the best in the area with its generous stretch of golden sand. Being a little off the beaten track it never really gets busy.
