Warm and Welcoming Craftsman Near Tranquil Woodland Park

Charming, traditional, and century-old, this Craftsman has been meticulously restored and tastefully furnished. Settle in the comfy living room, or in the cozy den, on the timeless porch, or on one of three patios and decks in the backyard for a moment of calm. A true home away from home in a peaceful, family neighborhood. Minutes from downtown Seattle, there are also plenty of walkable amenities nearby. Access to mass transit is ample. The Craftsman is the quintessential style of a Seattle house. Ours is a full-size Craftsman with a true second floor. It has been my family's home for more than a decade, and we've renovated and polished it up over the years. Now that the nest is empty, we're doing a lot of traveling, and sharing the home for guests to enjoy. We've removed all of our personal items, leaving behind only what you'll need for your stay. You won't see our clothes or our personal clutter. The closets, the dresser drawers, the medicine cabinets are yours and will be empty. The linens are used only by guests, not us. We don't want you to feel like you're staying in someone else's home. To accomplish this, we've sealed off two rooms in the house, where we we will keep all our personal effects. You will have use of almost all the rooms on both floors. Your space includes the living room, dining room, eat-in kitchen, den/spare bedroom, two full bathrooms, and three upstairs bedrooms. You can also book the basement apartment and use all three levels of the house (more on that in a minute). There will be one bedroom on the main floor and one bedroom on the upper floor that will be locked (one is used as an office, the other a bedroom). Luckily we have a total of six bedrooms, so there's plenty left for guests. One of the closets upstairs will also be locked. These rooms are where we're keeping all of our personal stuff so that it's out of your way. This will also be where we primarily live when we're home so we're not messing up guest space. About that basement apartment: There is also a two-bedroom unit (Woodland Park Suite on Airbnb) on the basement level. When you stay in the house, there might be other guests staying in the suite below you. It has its own entrance and is completely separate from the house. We also might use it occasionally if it's empty and the main house is booked. You can also book the basement with the house and have all three levels to use. That would give you a total of 5/6 bedrooms and three bathrooms. For that matter, if you'd like even MORE space, you can also book our detached studio off the backyard (Workshop Studio on Airbnb). It has a queen bed and 3/4-bath, and kitchenette. That would give you up to 7 bedrooms and four baths. As for the main house, here's what you'll get: A master bedroom with a king bed, another bedroom with a queen bed, and a third bedroom with two twin beds. Those are all upstairs and adjacent to a five-piece bath, with shower, claw-foot tub, and two sinks. On the main floor is the living room, dining room with seating for 6-8, full kitchen with a Wolf range, side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water dispenser, dishwasher, toaster, coffee grinder and coffee maker, washer and a dryer. There is another full bathroom on the main floor with a combination claw-foot tub/shower and two pedestal sinks. Off the kitchen is a den with sectional sofa and TV. You can also use it as a bedroom, as we will provide a queen-size Aerobed. The front porch and back porch are all yours. There is a gas grill on the back deck, as well as a small table and chairs. When you stay at the house, you might see other guests (from the basement suite or the studio) coming and going, although I wouldn't be surprised if you never did. The other guests enter their units through the back yard. You'll enter through the front door. We use the "August Home" smartlock app to give guests access to the house. You'll be sharing the back yard with other guests, although I'd say most of the time, guests are out enjoying the city and aren't hanging out in the backyard. There is a wood deck and pergola in the back with a dining table and chairs. There is also a stone patio on the west side of the house with more seating and a small table. All guests are welcome to use any of those spaces; it's first come first serve. The front and back porches, however, are for your use exclusively. Whether I'm in town or not, I'll always make myself available for questions and troubleshooting during your stay. The house is just a short walk from several of the city's most popular restaurants, two great coffee shops, a wine shop, several bars, a grocery store, and Green Lake, one of the city's most-used parks. The Woodland Park Zoo and the Rose Garden are across the street. The tony neighborhoods of Ballard, Wallingford, Fremont, Phinney Ridge, and Greenwood are within a few miles, and the major attractions of downtown Seattle are only 10 minutes away by car or bus. Having a car is a practical option here. It's easy enough to get around and park and you'll cover more ground. You will have one, off-street spot, and ample street parking. The bus system is also quite good in our neighborhood. There is an express bus (The E Line RapidRide) that stops five blocks away on Aurora Avenue and pretty much goes straight downtown. You can also catch the No. 5 bus four blocks away to get downtown; it is almost as fast as the express bus. The No. 44 bus is also four blocks away and goes west to Ballard, and east to the University of Washington. Do keep in mind that while the main house is all yours, other guests (or me) might be staying below you in the basement suite. The soundproofing is good but not perfect. You might hear them; they might hear you, so just exercise common sense and be courteous about noise and loud footsteps. We ask that guests do not wear shoes in the house - this both cuts down on noise, and it keeps the floors cleaner. We've always been a shoe-less household. In addition to the basement suite, there is a detached studio off the back yard where more guests might be staying. Yes, it's a lively little compound at times, all the more reason I want to emphasize that while we can and are happy to accommodate large groups, we need everyone to be respectful, courteous, tranquil guests. If you're looking to really let your hair down and whoop it up, I applaud you and envy you...but if that's the case, ours is not the place to book. We live in a dense, urban neighborhood and we expect all guests to be mindful and conscientious about the comfort of other guests and neighbors.

Alki Beach View Home, Two Blocks Above the Beach

Start the day with coffee brewed in the gorgeous designer kitchen, with its cherry cabinets and granite counters. Then slide open the living room doors to drink it on the deck while admiring the Puget Sound and mountain views from this home perched two blocks above Alki Beach in West Seattle. At the end of the day, use the gas grill to prepare salmon you picked up fresh at the Pike Place Market and gather around the dining table in the great room to enjoy with a glass of fine wine. Curl up in front of the gas fireplace and unwind with a book or your favorite show on the huge smart TV. Great Room Layout: The main living space is light and airy, arranged in an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings. Leather couches ground the living room and provide a cozy space to curl up and read, work on a laptop, watch satellite TV, or enjoy the gas fireplace. From the living room, sliding doors open unto a large view deck which overlooks Alki Beach and has 180 degree views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. You'll love using the gas grill to cook the fresh salmon you bring back from the Pike Place Market. Prepare the rest of your dinner in the gorgeous designer kitchen with cherry cabinets, granite counters and stainless appliances-at the heart of the great room, then gather around the long dining table to savor a bottle of wine and great company. In the morning, enjoy a cup of freshly ground Pike Place Roast coffee while gazing at the view from the bar or cocktail table. Bedroom/Bathroom Layout: The lower level offers a master suite with king-sized bed and ensuite bath. Two additional bedrooms each have comfortable queen-sized beds and share the remaining full bath. Also included on the lower level is a laundry room, which adds convenience for longer stays. Parking: It is easy to park two cars at the unit, one inside the single car attached garage and the other in the driveway. Additional parking is available for free on the street nearby. Privacy: This rental unit is the upper portion of a duplex. The home's modern construction affords complete privacy between this and the lower unit. We are always available by text, phone, or e-mail, but otherwise respect the privacy of our guests. Alki Beach is a great place to be on a sunny day, wth families playing volleyball or exploring the tide pools as the water recedes. Parallel to the beach, there's a flat, well-maintained path, perfect for cyclists, runners, and rollerbladers. Catch a free shuttle on the beach to connect to downtown Seattle via an enjoyable ride on the West Seattle water taxi.

This building is special. Situated atop an art studio dedicated to large scale works of art, the residences support the mission of Mad Art. One of ten 2-story lofts, this features 750sqft (70 meters square), plus a deck and access to a communal roof deck with BBQ. This luxurious loft designed by Graham Baba is a work of art. Polished concrete floors throughout, walnut cabinetry and built-ins, blackened steel wall accents, exposed steel structure, natural fir ceiling and exquisite bath and kitchen fixtures express a wholly Northwest material palette. I always unpack completely when traveling and I encourage you to do so! South Lake Union (SLU) is the center of Seattle's tech and biotech industries during the day. Have a relaxed evening at a great boutique restaurant or bar. It's walkable in every direction to Seattle's great destinations including the Space Needle. The SLU Seattle Streetcar (inbound) stops directly in front of the building. Hop on and get connected to Link Light Rail all the way to the airport or catch a bus to Capitol Hill, Ballard or Queen Anne. South Lake Union is a hotbed of construction activity and although there is nothing currently happening next to the building, the area is alive with workers during the day. Evenings are quiet and relaxing.
