There are also a wide range of traditional pubs, shops and restaurants, making Bourton perfect for guests of all ages. The village is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, and the many picturesque market towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, as are further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade". Food & Drink Bourton has a variety of places to eat and drink, including cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. The list below is a small sample of the options available: The Chester House Hotel and The Croft Restaurant (www.chesterhousehotel.com): Breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and evening meals in a riverside restaurant. You can enjoy freshly prepared, local produce throughout the day and night, with seasonal specials added to the menu daily. The Duke of Wellington (www.dukeofwellingtonbourton.co.uk): A local village inn aiming to provide fresh home cooked food with a friendly service. There is a light snacking menu, a full menu and a wonderful range of desserts and hot beverages. As well as daily home cooked specials, on Sundays you can enjoy a traditional carvery with all the trimmings from 12-6pm. The Mousetrap Inn (www.mousetrap-inn.com): A traditionally run Cotswold stone Inn, with a history dating back to the building of the railways in the 18th Century. Serving home-made food, along with fantastic, locally brewed real ales. The Village Restaurant & Tearooms (www.thevillagerestaurant.co.uk): Traditional, home cooked food in a friendly atmosphere, overlooking the river Windrush, in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water.

Nowadays, Cirencester is the largest town in the Cotswolds, enabling it to support a wide range of pubs, restaurants and shops, all housed in beautiful honey-coloured Cotswold stone buildings. The town is surrounded by stunning countryside and beautiful Cotswold villages, as well as being an ideal base for visiting further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford or even a day trip into London. Castle Mews is very peacefully located, down a gated passageway off Castle street, a beautiful street in the heart of Cirencester. There is a lovely enclosed courtyard garden at the front of the cottage, which leads to the front door. The door opens into the open plan ground floor: Living/dining area: The relaxing living and dining space contains a comfy sofa, an armchair and a wooden dining table, with seating for two. Discretely hidden away in a wooden cabinet is a small SMART TV and DVD player; Kitchen area: The lovely kitchen area is very well laid out and contains a two ring induction hob, electric oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and a washing machine/tumble dryer. Stairs lead up from the living area to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom: A lovely eaves room, with oak beams and a ledge and brace door, which contains a king size bed; Dressing room: A nice additional space, which contains a sofa, a dressing table and a free standing towel rail; Bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Returning downstairs, a stable door leads out from the kitchen area to a small, enclosed courtyard garden at the back of the cottage, which contains a table and two seats. The garden area at the front of the cottage is larger and is a beautiful place to sit outside and relax, containing two comfy chairs and a small table.

The Hayloft is part of a beautiful barn conversion, accessed via a gravel driveway. Steep stone steps lead up to the front door. The front door opens into the entrance hall, with all the rooms laid out on one floor: Living/dining room: This stylish living area is bright and spacious, with an eye-catching exposed Cotswold stone feature wall. This room has two sofas, a coffee table, a Freeview TV and DVD player. There is also a dining table and two chairs; Kitchen: The galley kitchen contains an electric oven with four-ring hob, a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and cafetière, as well as a washing machine/tumble dryer; Bedroom: Two steps lead down from the hallway into this characterful room with sloped ceilings, a king size bed and built-in cupboards for storage; Bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. The Hayloft is situated within the spacious grounds of private home, and a private patio area has been created especially for guests of The Hayloft. With pretty, trellised fencing and a table for two, it is the perfect spot for al fresco dining. There is one allocated parking space and further on-street parking is available in the village if needed.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • Beau séjour. Lit incroyablement confortable!

A stylish open plan barn conversion, with gorgeous uninterrupted Cotswold countryside views. It's in a private setting, perfect for couples or solo visitors. Situated on the edge of a beautiful village, it's an ideal base for enjoying all the Cotswolds has to offer, including great walking and cycling, lovely country pubs and famous cultural/sporting events in nearby Cheltenham (@10 miles). Alternatively you can just relax, enjoy the scenery and do nothing at all.
We are perched on top of a hill on the edge of a beautiful and typical Cotswold village in an area of outstanding natural beauty. At the top of our driveway, tucked away from the main house, is our barn. If you are looking for something a little bit different but with a modern feel, gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside and privacy, then this will be for you. Our pool house was converted from a small stone barn and, as the name suggests, there is an outdoor pool and one side of the building looks out on to this (though it's only open June-August). The other side looks out on to uninterrupted views of magnificent rolling hills, complete with sheep, pheasants and birds of prey. Outdoor furniture is available. Inside it's a little non-conventional, and is open plan, with a mezzanine bedroom area that has a huge gable-end window and an 11-rung wall-fixed ladder to get you up to it. Up there is a low-level double bed and a cargo net that pulls across the mezzanine opening for extra safety, if needed. NB We are very sorry but this won't be suitable for anyone who cannot ably and confidently use a ladder to go both up and down. There is a separate toilet with a small hand basin and a walk-in overhead shower (please note no bath) with a connecting changing area where you can also store/hang things out of the way. The main room is open plan and has a kitchen area with an island and seating for 6. It's well equipped and includes gas hob, electric oven, fridge with small freezer box, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle (no washing machine/dryer). There is a huge, very comfy corner sofa for relaxing and there's a TV with an Amazon Firestick with a small selection of channel apps including Netflix and Amazon Prime. It has under floor heating throughout. Please note we do not have curtains on the massive sliding doors on each side, however it is private where the barn is situated with no buildings overlooking it. There are removable blackouts that can be used on the gable-end window on the mezzanine/bedroom level, for those who prefer less light when sleeping. Outside there's a lovely deck and beyond the pool is a private garden area leading on to a paddock. Wifi works very well, mobile not very well at all, though you can hook-up to the wifi and use wifi calling, if you have it and that works perfectly.
Our area is very beautiful, very green, very quiet and very rural. This makes for a relaxing and peaceful stay. It's also super-dark at night as we have no street lights. If you are looking for night-life you'd have to go to Cheltenham (15 mins drive, cab possible with a bit of pre-planning). Please note you will have to drive to get to a pub or shop.

Welcome to Heath Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Heath Cottage is a beautiful, Grade II listed cottage, located close to the heart of the famous Cotswolds market town of Stow-on-the-Wold. Sitting on top of a hill, Stow is well known for its many antique shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as for the many lovely walks through the surrounding Cotswold countryside that are accessible directly from the town. The history of the town is beautifully preserved, including a medieval stone cross in the market square, the old town stocks and a number of alleyways for the passage of sheep being herded to market. Stow is also ideally positioned for exploring the wider region, including the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Heath Cottage is located at the end of a short row of Cotswold stone cottages. The front door opens directly from the street into the dining room, and the following rooms are on the well laid out ground floor area: Living room: A spacious, dual aspect room, with a wealth of character features, including a flagstone floor, oak beams, exposed Cotswold stone, and a large inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove. The room is furnished with a large corner sofa, which comfortably seats four, a large footstool, comfortable window seat, and a Smart TV; Dining room: Another lovely, character filled room, with a large, ornamental inglenook fireplace and original exposed oak beams, which contains a large dining table with seating for six. A fridge freezer is also located in this room; Kitchen: Accessed from the dining room, the kitchen contains an electric oven, four-ring electric hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle and toaster. A door from the kitchen leads out to the courtyard garden. A steep, winding staircase leads up from the dining room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A beautiful room, which contains a king size sleigh bed, fitted wardrobe, and a dressing table with a mirror; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with handheld shower attachment, walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin; The second floor bedrooms are in the beautiful eaves of the cottage, and are accessed from the first floor landing by separate steep staircases, with low beams, which open directly into each bedroom: Bedroom two: Contains a king size bed and a fitted wardrobe; Bedroom three: Contains a fitted double bed, fitted wardrobe, and a chest of drawers with a mirror. A door from the kitchen leads out to an enclosed courtyard garden, which catches the late afternoon sun. There is a table with seating for six, a charcoal barbecue, and a shed that can be used to store bikes. At the end of the garden there is one allocated off street parking space.
Located in the north Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the principal market towns in the region. The main feature of the town is the historic market square which used to play host to the annual sheep fairs where, at the height of the Cotswold wool industry, up to 20,000 sheep were sold at one time. The market square is steeped in history and has two features which date back to the medieval period. At one end of the square there is the medieval cross which was erected to urge traders to carry out fair business under the eyes of God, and at the far end stand the town stocks which are found in the shadows of the old elm tree. Originally known as Edwardstow or Stow St Edward after the town's patron saint Edward, the town's church is also named after him. The church is just 100 yards from the town square and is a lovely place for locals and tourists alike to get some peace from the bustling market square. The north door is guarded by two yew trees and is a focal point of the town. Stow has traditional narrow alleyways, or "tures" as they were once known, which wind their way through the centre of the town. It is these same alleyways that were once used to channel the sheep to the fair. Another point of interest in the town is the well in Well Lane which is now a Grade II Listed Building. As a result of the rather unique geology of the area, water held in the higher layers of the limestone bursts out of various fissures on the slopes and two do still work as wells now. Food & Drink Stow has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: The Queens Head Inn (www.donnington-brewery.com/the_queens_head_stow_on_the_wold): The Queens Head is a traditional town pub, owned by the local Donnington brewery. Here locals mix with tourists who are unsurprisingly attracted into this lovely old pub. Good traditional pub food and ale, in a great atmosphere; The Sheep (www.thesheepstow.co.uk): A seasonal menu with pizzas being a major focus. There is a wood-fired oven in the restaurant, where you can watch your freshly made pizza cook; The Talbot: Laid back drinking, eating and coffees in a traditional meeting place for the town slap bang in the Square. Sofas, original paintings, rickety old tables and chairs, with staff who are under the threat of death if they are not friendly! White Hart (www.thewhitehartstow.com): A 'boutique' style Inn, which has recently been beautifully refurbished throughout. The Inn boasts two cosy bars, lots of open fires and an atmospheric dining room. Hearty food is served during the day, with finer dining in the evening. All food is sourced locally and prepared on the premises; The Bell (www.thebellatstow.com): The Bell at Stow is the perfect country pub. Behind the ivy-clad façade lies a charming, stylish interior with the warmest of welcomes. A favourite with the locals, The Bell is open all day every day offering everything from a pint of well-kept cask ale through to a delicious three-course supper. Friday evenings are legendary for the Champagne Happy Hour at 5pm - grab a seat if you can as the weekend gets off to the perfect start! Stow has a Tesco and a Co-op for regular food purchases and, for special treats, there is a traditional butcher's shop and a number of delicatessens specialising in local produce, including: Lambournes Butchers (www.lambournesbutchers.co.uk): A family owned, multi-award winning traditional butchers, renowned for locally-produced meat, poultry and game, sourced from hand-picked suppliers. Referring to the owner, the BBC's Adam Henson has observed that "what Bob doesn't know about sausages isn't worth knowing"; Cotswold Food Store and Café (www.cotswoldfoodstore.co.uk): The Cotswold Food Store and Café offers a huge variety of delicious local foods, ranging from locally sourced vegetables, meat, eggs and bread to charcuterie, hams and pates in its deli counter. The adjoining café offers freshly prepared meals by resident chef Sonya Kidney, along with home-made cakes, biscuits and light bites; Hamptons Fine Foods (www.hamptons-hampers.co.uk): Hamptons offer a wide range of quality foods to discerning customers. The shelves are packed with exclusive and delicious fine foods that one would not normally find in the mass outlets. A veritable Aladdin's cave. Hamptons specialise in gourmet hampers which can be collected from their shop or delivered direct.

  • Charmant petit endroit, beaux paysages. Grands pubs

    Ciaran2019-11-17T00:00:00Z

There is a shop and a pub in the village, and the famous Cotswold market towns of Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh are both within 10 miles, with their wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants. William Shakespeare’s birthplace of Stratford-upon-Avon is also less than 10 miles away, and many other attractions are within easy reach, including Warwick Castle, Blenheim Palace and Oxford, as well as the many stately homes and gardens located in the north Cotswolds. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Old Manor Cottage is a beautiful thatched property that sits in the grounds of the owner’s manor house. The front door opens into the hallway, with the following rooms on the ground floor: Living room: This lovely room has exposed beams, an oak door and a roaring open fire. There is a two seater sofa, two comfy arm chairs, and a Freeview TV with integrated DVD player, plus an iPod dock with radio and CD player; Kitchen/dining room: A well equipped kitchen, which includes an electric cooker with four ring electric hob, fridge, freezer, slimline dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and a combined washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a glass dining table, which comfortably seats three; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet. Stairs lead up from the hallway to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 1: This room contains a single bed. Bedroom 2 is accessed via this room, making bedroom 1 better suited for a child; Bedroom 2: Accessed via bedroom 1, this is a lovely dual aspect room, which has beautiful views across the gardens and contains a king size bed; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower attachment, heated towel rail, toilet and wash basin. The cottage sits in three acres of beautiful grounds, and guests have their own private lawned area within the grounds, including a summer house and a table with four chairs and two sun loungers. There is a well maintained tennis court in the grounds, which guests can use by prior arrangement with the owner, and the grounds run down to the River Stour, where fishing is available. Off street parking is available outside the cottage for two cars.

Welcome to Brook Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Brook Cottage is one of the most idyllically situated properties in the Cotswolds, sitting on a quiet lane overlooking fields, with only the soothing sound of the babbling brook outside to break the silence. Despite the tranquil setting, the cottage is in the historic heart of Blockley, which is a peaceful, yet thriving village, with two pubs, a community owned village shop & café, a historic Norman church and a childrens' playground. Blockley has numerous beautiful walks on its doorstep and is well located for exploring the many beautiful market towns and villages of the North Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Walking along Blockley Brook leads you to Brook Cottage’s front door, which opens into: Living room: A cosy, beautifully furnished room, with a stone mullion window with window seat, wooden beams, a large inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove and a flat-panel TV. The living room is also used for dining and it contains an extendable dining table, with seating for up to four people. The living room then leads into: Kitchen: For a small cottage, the beautifully decorated kitchen is very well equipped, including a cooker with hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer dryer. Returning to the living room, a narrow, steep staircase leads up to a small first floor hallway, off which is: Bedroom 2: A cosy bedroom, with exposed beams and brickwork, containing a double bed next to the stone mullion window, which looks out to fields and the brook below. The main bathroom is accessed via bedroom 1 and this contains a bath with handheld shower attachment, basin and toilet. The staircase continues up into the gable of the house, opening out to: Master bedroom: Another cosy double bedroom, with exposed beams and a stone mullion window, bedroom 2 also has an en-suite toilet and basin. Heading back downstairs and into the kitchen, double doors lead out into the fully enclosed, south-westerly facing garden, which contains a paved area and decking at the end of the garden. There is an outdoor table and chairs, with a gas barbecue provided in the Summer. Outside the front door is a small garden area, with a stone bench, which looks down the lane to the brook running past the cottage.
Blockley is a popular village in the Cotswolds which is found within a triangle formed by three renowned market towns: Chipping Campden to the North, Moreton-in-Marsh to the South East and Stow-on-the-Wold to the South. Being close to these three towns has led to increased footfall in the village, bringing with it good quality pubs and a lovely village shop/café. As the village is away from main roads, it avoids the heavy tourist traffic and so visitors can get a real sense of rural life, enjoying the rolling countryside which falls within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The peaceful Blockley Brook attracts tourists and locals as a quiet place to relax in the warmer months. This brook, together with the other brook in the village, played a part in Blockley's history as there were once 12 water mills which provided work in various industries over the centuries, including silk production and flour milling.

Continuing up, there is a second patio with further seating and a fire pit. The garden levels out with an elevated wild flower meadow and hammock, a lovely area to relax and unwind. With the lowest wall on the long south side, the garden enjoys sunshine throughout the day, while mature trees provide welcome shaded areas in the warmer months. Chipping Norton, better known as "Chippy" by locals, is a well-known market town in the Cotswolds which has been runner up in the Great British High Street awards for small market town for the last two years. Once the site of a Norman castle, the town is the highest in Oxfordshire and has a number of notable buildings to visit. The Town Hall proudly marks the days when the town was a Borough. It was built in 1842 and used to host the poultry and butter markets on Wednesdays, as well as the Corn Exchange. It was also used for entertainment and auctions and lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of a bride and groom as the hall is licensed for weddings. A picturesque row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages can be found in the town which were once almshouses given to Chippy by puritan Henry Cornish. The almshouses are set back from the road and are entered through a grand archway which has elaborate finials and cresting. Another standout building is Bliss Mill. It dates back to the 1870s and was once used in the manufacturing of wool and tweed for cloth manufacturer William Bliss. The mill was designed to look like a country house, but has the large chimney at one end for which it is recognised. It is now a Grade II listed building and was converted into luxury apartments in the 1980s. Being a relatively small town, it comes as a surprise to many to find a theatre in Chipping Norton. The team put on an array of productions including theatre, music, comedy and the annual pantomime. As well as live performances, the theatre also screens a range of classic, art house and foreign language films. Food & Drink As one of the main market towns in the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton has a wide variety of places to eat and drink, catering for most tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample, to give a flavour for the various options available: Wild Thyme Restaurant (www.wildthymerestaurant.co.uk): Offering exciting modern British food and relaxed friendly service, complemented by three stylish rooms, this is a special place to enjoy great food and wine with family and friends. The Chequers (www.chequers-pub.com): The Chequers was built in medieval times at the entrance to the market place and is thought to date back to the late 1500s as a pub, when it was identified by a sign of a blue anchor outside. The main bar is situated amongst four seating areas. In the absence of any electronic games machines, pool tables or juke boxes, the traditional pub styling of yesteryear is recalled. A blazing log fire in the winter creates a cosy atmosphere. There is also a separate restaurant area. Whistlers Café Bar & Restaurant (www.whistlersrestaurant.co.uk): The owners of Whistlers are passionate about food and passionate about entertaining. Open during the day as well as for evening meals, Whistlers has a range of breakfasts, through to lighter snacks and lunchtime treats, as well as a great range of hot drinks and cakes to help you while away the hours. Café Le Raj (www.cafeleraj.net): A contemporary Indian restaurant, where top quality ingredients and fragrant herbs and spices are used to create sumptuous dishes. Chipping Norton also has many food shops, ranging from small, family run places, to a Co-op and a Sainsbury's.

Broadway is a beautiful village in the North Cotswolds, steeped in history and surrounded by stunning countryside. The village gets its name from the wide street, or broad way, that runs through the centre which was once the main road from Worcester to London. This attractive High Street is bordered with chestnut trees and honey coloured stone cottages dating from the 16th century and is one of the most picturesque villages of the Cotswolds. The broad way is thought to be especially wide because at one time there used to be streams running each side of the main drive. These streams were eventually hidden in underground pipes where they would emerge at 'dipping' points, but sadly they are now almost completely invisible. The village has artistic links with famous dwellers including J.M. Barrie, Mary Anderson and William Morris, who were drawn to the tranquillity of Broadway. It was here that Morris and John Ruskin pioneered the idea of the Arts and Crafts Movement which made its home in the area and went on to be an international movement. One of the iconic features of the village is Broadway Tower which was built in the late 18th century by the Earl of Coventry. It is said that the tower was erected so that the Countess could see if her Cotswold estate was visible from Croome Court in Worcestershire, which it was. The folly stands some 1,024 feet above sea level, making it the second highest point in the Cotswolds after Cleeve Hill. In fact, on a clear day, visitors are able to see 14 counties from the top! William Morris was so taken by the tower that he went on to establish the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings in 1877. Food & Drink Broadway has a number of places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit most tastes and budgets. The list below is a sample of the options available: Russell's (www.russellsofbroadway.co.uk): Head Chef, Neil Clarke, serves modern British food in the award-winning restaurant, with local Vale of Evesham and Cotswold produce featuring throughout the daily-changing menus. The modern, airy dining room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with friendly staff and laid-back service combining to create a relaxed and warm setting, day and night; The Lygon Arms (http://www.thehotelcollection.co.uk/hotels/the-lygon-arms-hotel-cotswolds/): A 17th century minstrel's gallery, a grand open fire and an imposing barrel-vaulted ceiling greet you as you enter The Great Hall, the main dining room of the famous Lygon Arms Hotel. A destination in its own right, people travel miles to enjoy the restaurant's 2 AA Rosettes for excellence sumptuous cuisine and warm friendly service of the highest quality. A few steps across the courtyard, Lukes Bistro offers a relaxing atmosphere serving traditional English cuisine with a contemporary twist, equally as imaginative and as fresh, using ingredients that are grown and reared locally, including a wide range of herbs and plums from the hotel's own orchards; The Potting Shed (www.dormyhouse.co.uk/potting-shed-restaurant): The Potting Shed is everything a Cotswold country dining pub should be. It's relaxed and inviting, with a large leather-and-oak bar and a rustic agenda. This is English pub grub as it ought to be: sticky ribs, great bangers, slow-cooked pork belly and fish that's been caught on our shores. Dress up and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail, or dress down and bring the kids.

In our beautiful Cotswold garden, wind up through the rockery to this sheltered hillside spot, with its very own private deck and seating area, offering gorgeous views to the surrounding village, nestled in idyllic countryside. This light and airy, but warm and cosy studio has a super comfortable kingsize bed, a desk and a separate stylish modern bathroom, a lovely deep bath, and a very efficient shower attachment if needed. You will be living under the eaves, so headspace is a little limited.
You are welcome to potter about our large garden.
We are just 2 minutes walk from the Seven Tuns Pub, which is a quintessential Cotswold country pub, with good food and roaring log fires - this is a great place to while away an afternoon or have an evening out without any need to drive. We are situated in the most beautiful countryside with miles of footpaths. We have a beautiful church and a Roman villa in the village and a farm shop that serves an all day ‘bottomless’ breakfast. Nearby Cirencester has great independent shops and a Waitrose. Also highly recommended for food is The Village Pub at Barnsley and The New Inn at Coln St Aldwyns. There is also a village taxi service, if you need a lift home. Needless to say, we are right on the doorstep of all the well known cotswold villages and beauty spots, so this is an excellent location from which to tour around.

The Cotswolds: If you’re looking for somewhere with a surprise round every corner then look no further than the beautiful Cotswolds. Famous for quintessentially English market towns and villages built from honey-coloured stone, the Cotswolds are a range of gently rolling hills and the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales making them a perfect base for keen walkers and cyclists. Escape the high street and lose yourself in village lanes full to bursting with quirky and independent shops, restaurants and farmers markets or soak up the amazing atmosphere of one of our many festivals and events. You’ll find some of the world’s most famous – and beautiful gardens in the Cotswolds, as well as wildlife parks, castles and stately homes and some of the finest historic buildings and churches in the country. Don’t be put off by our lack of coastline either! We have 40 miles of lakes in the Cotswold Water Park and numerous gently winding streams, canals and waterways criss-crossing the picturesque towns and villages. On the door step: WOODCHESTER PARK - the secret valley: Nestled in the Cotswolds, the secluded valley of Woodchester Park is home to the remains of an 18th- and 19th-century landscape park, a Victorian mansion, a chain of five lakes fringed by woodland and pasture, and an abundance of wildlife. The 19th Century Victorian Gothic Masterpiece was abandoned in mid-construction in 1873. Hidden in a secluded Cotswold valley, it is untouched by time and the modern world. This Grade 1 Listed Building has been saved from dereliction, but will never be completed. Visitors walk through an extraordinary architectural exhibit in which the secrets of the medieval Gothic builders and masons are laid bare. The carvings in Woodchester Mansion are among the finest of their kind in the world. 3 mins drive / 30 mins walk: NAILSWORTH: The artistic, market town of Nailsworth is nestled in a wooded valley in the south Cotswolds. Nailsworth is renowned for its selection of award-winning restaurants, pubs and cafes. Eating out in Nailsworth means you are spoilt for choice. Hobbs House Bakery is famous for being owned by the Fabulous Baker Brothers – Tom and Henry Herbert – and was featured on their TV show. William’s Food Hall has helped turn Nailsworth into a foodie haven. It draws celebrities and foodies through its doors to dine on fresh seafood and local produce. 5 mins drive: MINCHINHAMPTON The delightful, small market town of Minchinhampton sits on the edge of Minchinhampton Common. It's made up of pretty stone cottages, many dating back to the 17th century and medieval wool trade. There is a weekly country market and a good choice of cafes. Minchinhampton was chosen as a scenic location for the recent BBC TV adaptation of J K Rowling’s Casual Vacancy. There are breathtaking panoramic views of the Stroud Valleys from Minchinhampton Common, which sits on the Cotswold escarpment. It is an important archaeological landscape and managed by the National Trust. Rare orchids and butterflies can be spotted along with freely roaming horses and cattle. Please drive carefully over the common and keep an eye out for (URL HIDDEN) of the most famous residents is the Princess Royal who lives at Gatcombe Park on the edge of town. Every year, the famously quirky Giffords Circus takes up residence in Minchinhampton as part of its annual summer tour of the Cotswolds. 15 mins drive: TETBURY: Tetbury is a historic market town that is now internationally famous for its range of antiques shops and dealers. Independent boutique shops sit alongside restaurants that feature in the Michelin Guides. Tetbury attracts everyone from Royalty (Prince Charles and his sons' home, Highgrove, sits less than a mile away) to English countryside lovers, antique-finders, foodies and real ale connoisseurs. 8 min drive: STROUD: In the opposite direction and you will find yourself in the market town of Stroud - Situated below the western escarpment of the Cotswold Hills at the meeting point of the Five Valleys, the town is noted for its steep streets, independent spirit and cafe culture. The Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds the town, and the Cotswold Way path passes by it to the west. The award winning saturday farmers market IS A MUST! 25 min drive: BIBURY & ARLINGTON Bibury is a charming, typically Cotswold village just a short drive from Cirencester. It’s easy to see why William Morris called Bibury ‘The most beautiful village in England’ – wonderful stone buildings strung out along the banks of the River Coln. Arlington Row, owned by the National Trust, is one of England’s most iconic and photographed sites – it even appears on the inside cover of UK passports! Originally built in the 14th century as a monastic wool store, it was converted in the 17th century into a row of weavers’ cottages. The cottages are now lived in by National Trust tenants, with no public access to the cottages or gardens, although one of them can be rented out as a holiday cottage. The River Coln flows through Bibury sandwiched between the main village street and an expanse of boggy water meadow known as Rack Isle, so called because wool was once hung out to dry there on racks after it had been washed in Arlington Row. With Arlington Row as a backdrop, it makes one of the most picturesque scenes you will find in the Cotswolds. 30 min drive:CHELTENHAM SPA 45 min drive: BATH SPA
  • INCROYABLE!

The Notgrove Estate is a 1500 acre family run working farm owned by Harry and Diana Acland. Set high up in the Cotswold Hills it has 400 acres of grassland in deep valleys and 100 acres of woodland and rolling arable fields. The farm has a mix of sheep, cattle and arable and has diversified with two horse livery yards and a holiday cottage business. In the last few years Harry and Diana have put in new foot and bridle paths and entered into a wildlife conservation scheme planting 200 acres of special plots planted with wild bird mixes, corn bunting mixes, pollen and nectar mixes for bees and beetle banks that promotes the preservation of our natural wild birds. The scenery changes with each season as does the pattern of farming; we have an abundance of lambs and calves in spring, harvest in summer, colourful autumn leaves and dramatic winters, often with snow.

A rare opportunity to stay in a huge first floor period apartment in one of England's most beautiful cities. Beautifully restored by us and with easy access to the city centre and countryside beyond. Free on-street parking and a space saved for you on request.
    Ready
CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: We are open and able to offer the perfect place for social distancing, working from home or just different 4 walls. Rates are reduced and any cancellations are offered free to NHS front line staff. As we offer an entirely private apartment we are still able to offer a beautiful but rather different experience. Whether your holiday was cancelled or you wish to self isolate or work from another location or just sick of the same four walls. We can offer a car to apartment welcome and will greet you personally with a smile not a hand shake. Myself and Daniel clean and maintain the apartment personally to the highest standards and we use antibacterial treatments on all surface, particularly regularly touched areas. We are also laundering linen and towels at a high temperature of 90c. Hand wash is provided as always The apartment has Netflix/Tv and fast broadband suitable working from home or just play. The kitchen has all you need and a supermarket is literally 5 mins walk away. If you decide to venture out on foot, beautiful and quiet countryside and canal walks are just 5 mins away As we speak Bath and attractions and most restaurants and pubs remain open and should be lovely and quiet for once. This may change but the delivery services in Bath will happily bring the best local restaurant to your door. (We have an intercom so can be left at the door)

The stable door from the bedroom opens onto the outside patio area decorated with pretty pots and featuring the walk-on glass area directly above the kitchen. Three steps lead up to a larger patio area with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the market town of Stroud. This private, sunny space has an outdoor table, two chairs and a wooden bench, perfect for relaxing on warm summer days. A charcoal barbecue is provided from April to September, and there is a chiminea for cooler evenings. The outside space can also be accessed via a right of way through the neighbour’s garden and on street parking is available close to the property.
Encircled by five sweeping valleys opening out to the River Severn and made famous by Laurie Lee's novel "Cider with Rosie", the scenery is dramatic around Stroud. The town and its surrounding villages provide a great base from which to explore the undiscovered south Cotswolds, as well as for day trips to Bristol and Bath. London is just a 90 minute direct train away. At a time when the prevalence of chain stores has turned many of Britain's High Streets into copies of each other, Stroud is a welcome relief. With a bohemian vibe and an enviable array of independent shops, Stroud offers a unique shopping experience unrivalled by any town or city in the locality. Brimming with character and standing amidst the dramatic backdrop of the Five Valleys, Stroud has an eclectic mix of shops in the most beautiful of settings. The award-winning Farmers' Market is held each Saturday and is one of the best in the country, described by Jasper Conran as "the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds". Throughout the summer months, street performers will entertain you every Saturday morning and there is a full programme of music and theatre throughout the year – a true hub of cultural events. Stroud is a place that repays investigation, especially for the quality and variety of artists at work in the area – you could also choose to take part in one of the many traditional workshops! Food & Drink Stroud has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: JRooL Bistro (www.jrool.co.uk): JRooL Bistro is a fine example of the sum of its parts being greater than the whole. The team has a passion for food and wine, such that the end result is an experience of food, wine and service that is, simply, award winning. The flexibility of the dining room encourages leisurely family lunches, business dining, appetisers and drinks at the bar, pre-theatre dinners or a full gastronomic experience; No 23 Bar & Bistro: No 23 is a popular, independent Stroud Bar, Café and Restaurant, specialising in tapas and Mediterranean fare. The fully stocked bar serves choice wines, beers and aperitifs to complement the extensive menu; Sorrento Italian Restaurant (www.sorrentostroud.co.uk): The menu offers superb presentations of traditional favourites, such as pizzas, pasta, succulent steaks, chicken and fish dishes, all served in a relaxing, friendly environment. Stroud also has a wide range of food retailers, including an award winning Farmers' Market, held every Saturday.

Chipping Campden is one of the main market towns in the North Cotswolds, built by medieval traders with wealth created from the wool trade. With many thatched cottages, this is one of the most picturesque towns in the region. A notable feature of the town is the Market Hall which was built in 1627. Originally thought to be used in the wool trade, the main function of the hall was actually to give shelter to local cheese, poultry and butter sellers. The High Street is relatively small, taking just five minutes to walk from one end to the other, and it has a number of well-regarded eateries ranging from tea houses to dining pubs and restaurants. This main street curves in a shallow arc which is flanked on both sides by terraces of ancient houses, each house having its own embellishments. This feature of the town is one of the reasons why, in 1970, the street was officially designated as a conservation area. Chipping Campden marks one end of the Cotswolds Way which is a 102 mile National Trail linking Chipping Campden to Bath. For the majority of the trail it follows the Cotswold escarpment which gives the walker fantastic views of the surrounding scenery. The Way passes through many traditional villages and close to historical sites including Sudeley Castle near Winchcombe and Hailes Abbey. The countryside along the Way is very diverse, ranging from wildflower meadows to beech woodlands, providing visitors with perfect examples of Britain's stunning landscape. Food & Drink Chipping Campden has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit most tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: The Kings Hotel (www.kingscampden.co.uk): Modern British food with a contemporary twist. You will encounter mouth-watering choices like a starter of Duck Rillets with a Pea Panna Cotta & Pomegranate dressing, or main course of Braised Belly Pork & Fillet, Crispy Langoustine Tail, Roasted Apple, Celeriac Choucroute & Dauphinoise Potato. To finish, the dessert menu promises blissful indulgence with the likes of Caramel Banana Mousse, Pain D’epice & Coffee Soil. For a more informal option, relax in the friendly atmosphere of the stylishly refurbished Brasserie bar, serving morning coffee & brunch through to afternoon tea & dinner. Enjoy favourites such as Mussels in Garlic & White Wine, Home-made Aberdeen Angus Burger, Focaccia, Smoked Bacon & Tomato Relish with Fries; Cotswold House Hotel (www.cotswoldhouse.com): The kitchen team take their inspiration from the finest offerings of dedicated producers - whether it be wholesome crusty breads, locally-churned cheeses, home-reared meats, best Cornish fish, vegetables from the lush Vale of Evesham, or jams and preserves from small-scale artisan producers. The result? The very best of modern British cooking. Wonderful, simple food served at lunch and dinner in The Cotswold Grill or at dinner in The Dining Room at Cotswold House. On warm days, enjoy a drink, coffee, or lunch on the Pavilion Terrace tucked away in the hotel garden, its borders awash with summer colour. On reviendra certainement!

The front door of Honeysuckle Cottage is accessed via the front garden, which overlooks the lovely village green. The front door opens diectly into the kitchen and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: Looking out over the village green, this room contains comfy seating for four, a flame effect fire, and a flatscreen TV with a DVD player. There is also a wooden dining table, with seating for four; Kitchen: A well presented galley style kitchen, which contains an electric oven, four ring electric hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and a washing machine. There is also a breakfast bar, with two bar stools. Stairs lead up from the living room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms, all in the cosy eaves of the cottage: Bedroom 1: With views across the village green, this lovely room contains either two single beds or a super king size bed. There is a chest of drawers as well as hooks behind the door for hanging items; Bedroom 2: Also with views across the village green, this smaller room also contains either two single beds or a king size bed; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with handheld shower attachment, toilet and wash basin; Shower room: Contains a walk-in shower and a wash basin. French doors lead out from the living/dining room to the enclosed garden (please note that the neighbouring cottage has a right of way through the garden). The lovely garden is mostly laid to lawn and contains an outdoor table and four chairs, plus an additional two seater table and a swing seat. The cottage has one off-street parking space at the end of the front garden and further on-street parking is available directly outside the cottage.
