42 minutes south from here..this is a popular launching spot for River Rafting trips on the Stanislaus River. Knights Ferry is a small town with plenty of character and has as its focal point a covered bridge which spans 330 ft and is the longest such structure west of the Mississippi! The Recreation area itself encompasses a Visitors center run by The Army Corps of Engineers and features such activities as hiking, picnicking, fishing and camping. There are 3 major rafting companies operating out of Knights Ferry and they feature trips of up to four hours ending with a shuttle that will take you back to your car Kayak rental is also an option.

Beautiful and close for a short and leisurely hike along the Stansilaus River. Also has the longest-oldest covered briged west of the Mississippi.

A short drive to a small town in the foothills offering historic beauty .. including a covered bridge. There is a local favorite restaurant nestled on the flowing Stanislaus River in town.
