John Fluevog is an avante garde Canadian shoe designer; Toronto boast two locations (this one is in the distillery district, a destination in it's own right, also included here in our guide) and is a feast for the eyes. Though a tad pricey, his shoes are like no others and we have been long time fans for many years. If you are visiting from the US, the prices may actually seem a steal. In any event, even if you don't want to buy, the shop is worth a visit to see some really cool shoes and the staff are friendly and welcoming brand ambassadors.

Before Vancouver-based shoe store moved to its current location in 2015, the building housed a TD Bank with a vault in the back. After brainstorming about the nine-square-metre space, designers decided to turn it into a gravity room (aka an upside-down room) based on a vintage photo of store founder John Fluevog that hangs in every store. Featured: a Victorian-style loveseat and a bookshelf turned 90-degrees counterclockwise. Use the #VogVault for social media!
